BadPsychics TV have recently released two short films exposing the “Psychics” we all love to hate.
This one deals with a recent Channel 4 show, “Tony Robinson and the Blitz Witch”.
BadPsychics TV says : “The documentary was mainly about fraudulent physical medium Helen Duncan, however during the show a medium by the name of Darren Brittain was featured. And that is who we are conentrating on today.
The reason why we decided to produce this short analysis on him is due to a single sentence claim on his website.
“His reputation for delivering names, dates, street names, and personal information to identify loved ones has earned him a reputation as a medium of high quality.”
After viewing him give readings in a spiritualist church and also to Tony Robinson, something didn’t sit right.
Is Darren Brittain the real deal? Or is he a calculating conman?
I will let you make up your own mind regarding that conclusion.”

Calculating conman. Whit no doubt. Looked liked nothing but cold reading. But…. Was that Andy Nyman in the audience at the beginning of that vid?!?
Was a pretty good series Tony Robinson did. I met the producer last year and he seemed excited about meeting the past life regression people. He seemed to be approaching the series very unbiased (I think he believed in past life at least), which I fear I wouldn’t be so generous if I were on the team!
LOL … that guy … hehehehe ….. the one who talks I mean … for a sec I thought it was Derren in disguise .. hehehe …
Darren Brittain .. hehehe …. no need to say more about these ..
And what’s the point that people can tell you on what number you live????? What’s the use of that????? Even if they pick it out of your brain I mean. They could use their mouth for these things, couldn’t they?
Lucky numbers lottery .. that’s what I want and will believe.
And everlasting love coming up ..
Guaranteed.
It is kinda nice though, to see how far someone will get by attempting to reading you. Especially when the other does not claim that it comes from heaven or whatever .. but just … The game.
And what interests me the most, is how they see it theirselves. How it works inside. The techniques.
And no matter what techniques they will use, it is not that simple to copy them. To build up a name. Not half as simple as people think. Apart from where it comes from and whether you find it usefull.
The last word hasn’t been said in this area, I’m sure about that.
For some reason we never doubt science, or better said, people never used to doubt those .. but scientists are not really sure all the time either about their stuff. It’s just tiny little steps here and there in wide undiscovered areas. All the connections .. the links to all other stuff. Very complex .. Leaves space enough for e.g. human abilities we do not use (anymore), do not need to use perhaps, right now, and maybe never.
Remains interesting though .. no matter what. Like an orgasm. Hehe .. the neverending drive ..
Reminds me of The Messiah. Perhaps DB should of made it a feature length episode, guest staring Baldrick! Remember… He has “a cunning plan!” Darren Brittain, Tonys’ on to you!
Wikipedia the new spiritualist website! I actually feel nauseated, but not surprised!
LOL Agree Mrs G – Derren looked quite convincing as a hoodie in dark glasses… nice work on the accent too.
He’s only been in Merseyside for 2 days and already he’s auditioning for a walk-on role in Hollyoaks!
Watched this programme and couldn’t believe quite how bad it was. Best bit was Richard Wiseman’s fake seance, another example of which can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7s6yklp80Q courtesy of BadPsychics again. Believe Andy Nyman was involved in the set up of Mr Wiseman’s first fake seance experiments.
I can never watch psychics of any kind anymore without feeling shamefully embarrassed at how bad and tacky they are and vaguely nauseaous wondering how anyone could do that to grieving people.
Thank you Derren and everyone who works on his shows for that. Owe you one, big time.
I watched this when it was on and it made me furious….
“Darren Brittain” talked of someone by the name ‘Mary’ when he gave Tony Robinson his personal ‘reading’ as it were…. and he also mentioned the name ‘Shepherd’… Tony Robinson was like ‘Yeah, my ex partner is Mary Shepherd, she’s the mother of my children’…. so I went online and Googled Tony… GUESS WHAT? First hit, on Wikipedia, told me all I needed to know about his relationship with Mary Shepherd.
The guy was happily hot reading his way onto the TV screens.
Burn him… haha.
I thought the series was pretty awful and deliberately misleading though the best bit was when the old lady said that the ectoplasm smelled like semen
http://brucemhood.wordpress.com/2008/12/30/ectoplasm-smells-like-seaman/
Reminds me of the ‘genverbrander’ thing that was all over the TV shows around here a couple of years back.
Robbert van den Broeke, a TV psychic, told a lady that in a previous life, her husband was a ‘genverbrander’, though he didn’t know what that meant. He also gave her the name of said previous incarnation.
Turned out that he had a good reason for not knowing the meaning of the spirit’s old occupation. It was a typo, meant to read ‘geneverbrander’ (gin distiller), taken from a genealogy website that listed the name and occupation of the so-called previous incarnation.
His excuse? Dyslexia. He’d misunderstood the words the spirits had given him.
Yeah. He was also discovered to use simple trickery when doing ‘spirit photography’. His co-host showed 4 pictures of the ghost on his camera, when he’d taken only 3 photographs.
Honestly — if people are going to be frauds, they should at least be a little less obvious about it. First name OR last, not both, that’s just obvious. Don’t mention stuff that you don’t understand. Don’t be vague half the time and specific the other half.
These guys even fail at faking it…
Like Richard Dawkins says, if you’re reallying conversing with the dead can’t you get them to tell us what it’s like being dead instead of telling us that someone likes to polish their floors or whatever it was? Ugh, I hate guys like this. Ask them if there really are lots of virgins where they are or something much more fascinating.
On the one hand, cons are indeed usually very nauseating, for their aim is usually not to elevate pain, but to do it a bit and make them indispensable to get more money out of it.
On the other hand I have met people who I am sure believe in it themselves and usually they just try to help people and as a result it usually works in that way. In a intuitive way they sense what the other is feeling and experiencing and by ‘being’ someone else that says it is ‘ok’, the person in pain can more easily let go. A bit like how some therapists might work although usually less effective, because in that other case they think the person they feel guilty about is giving them absolution or the angel above or whatever. Although of course they must themselves do all the work, but it goes faster because they are not conscious about it. And that is the important part because in most cases it is the unconscious that sabotage them in getting a clear image of what is going on and how to feel better.
I don’t say that such a way is good or bad. For me it is more important that those people are able to let go and are free to live their own live, without being stuck to someone elses.
I remember once having a discussion with a newborn. He believed in adam and eve and that the world was only 10 000 years old (or something like that). In my discussion with him, I became to understand that he had to become a newborn to get rid of his parents (mother was a geneticist and father a psychiatrist). In my discussion, I saw that he himself in not so many words said that when he joined that group that he could finally stand on his own two feet without his parents controlling him. Further in my discussion, I sensed that while his need was high when he joined the sect, it was not longer necessary now and I sensed that he himself even felled that. I said that to him, and he smiled and nodded. At the end (I think it was around 5 o’clock in the morning), he said I was an angel, which seemed strange seeing that I refuted almost his entire thesis about religion.
My point is that sometimes people need something to be able to move, it can only become ‘unhealthy’ when they cling onto it when it is no longer necessary.
Hi guys.
Firstly can i say thanks for posting the video,.
I am the bloke in the video with the hoody on, lol
Not sure about the comment about the accent and merseyside?
Although i support Liverpool FC, i am actually a Brummy lol
Anyway, we are always looking for people to submit content to the various sites in the network, so if anyone is interested let me know.

Thanks again guys for the support, it is much appreciated.
ps. Did you know that NO ONE anywhere who has seen my vide, noticed that there was a Christmas card from Derek Acorah next to the fire!! How could you miss such a thing lol
Sure his name wasn’t Darren Hazlenut or something?
@ Jon Donnis – my apologies, you can tell I’m an ignorant southerner – I have difficulty distinguishing between accents north of the Watford gap! Seeing as I live in Liverpool right now there’s no real excuse…!
I’m just surprised it wasn’t Derren in a cunning disguise! Or is that what you want me to think?
I have actually been to one of Darren Brittans spritual readings and i made contact with my Auntie who died 2 years ago. He told me things that only I know i.e. she knew that i had put the silver jewellry that she bought me for my 18th Birthday on my bedside table recently and numerous things that only i know!!
he is 100% not a fake!!!
Darren Brittain IS completely genuine AND THE best medium I have ever seen. I saw him Wednesday evening, having seen him quite a few times in the past 2-3 years, and just when you think he has reached his peak, and can’t possibly get any better – He blew us all away with his accuracy, his descripive narrative of things no-one except the recipient knew.
ALL mediums will be mocked, ridiculed and scorned by people who have not yet seen the light, but hey!! That’s OK, we don’t mind at all, which is why the halls are always sold out of tickets weeks before the event, with people travelling from all over the country to see this guy.
We had to turn many away on Wednesday evening (May 13th) , so knock him as much as you like, he won’t stop doing what he’s doing anytime soon.
FOR ‘unfortunately, we do not have the full readings here, just short edited extracts from the show itself.’ READ ‘we\’ve taken these bits out of context, so it looks very biased against Darren Brittain, cos if we did show the real mccoy, Darren would have shown just how brilliant he really is. Also this is a very old video, and believe me, I have seen that you CAN improve on perfection, as Darren has got better and better every time I’ve seen him.
I can assure anyone who has never seen him this is most definitely DOES NOT ‘give you an indication of how Darren works’
There are fakes and con men in all walks of life…however could it be possible that people can use a natural intuition to ‘see’ someone elses life? How can you say that you dont believe in psychics or clairvoyants surely its a little arrogant to say “no it doesn’t exist” – how do you really know?? The answer is nobody knows for sure, its not being gullible to say until I have explored the possibilties I will keep an open mind.
dont knock it till you have tried it! i have seen darren a few time and cant believe his acuracy, not only for myself but other family members and friends. i have been told things deep and personal that couldnt be made up.
everyone entitled to own opinions but i think its unfair to say hes false without having your own experience with him
I am a researcher into this area and came across darren brittain’s work by sheer chance in a spiritualist church recently. The church is hundreds of miles away from his home territory – the people there were strangers to him. I recognised some of the people he gave highly accurate, meaningful messages to and know they couldn’t possibly be ‘plants’. Without exception they all responded with surprise and joy to these messages; they would have had to have been trained at RADA or have had considerable acting ability to fake such responses if they had been plants. The specific details darren gave dispensed with any possibility that the messages were the product of cold reading. I would say that he was accurate more than 90% of the time. Caution, skeptics! We know little about the Universe!
I carnt believe a number of of the web-sites My partner and i have been taken to through stumblupon (only just currently this specific website) I was trying to spend a couple of tremendously dreary 60 minutes away, when stumbleupon brought me here. What a really good web site you have got I am so delighted to have found it I have just passed the previous 20 mins going through several of your articles or blog posts, and have furthermore bookmarked some of them. I will defiantly be returning to read a bit more when i have atiny bit more time.
I have had the unfortunate privilege of knowing Darren Brittain in person. At first, he comes across as very genuine but in the end, he shows his true colours to be purely self-serving and will do anything to gain fame and fortune. If there is a spirit world, then I’m pretty sure they have nothing to do with Darren Brittain.
I have seen Darren for a private sitting and I have tried to find an explanation for the things he told me. There is no explanation. There is no way he could’ve described 3 of my relatives so accurately. I have gone from wanting to believe to actually believing. He was either reading my mind or in touch with my relatives – either way it was amazing.
