Meh, technology is always so disappointing, and Microsoft so smug, "Hi, I'M a PC!" Aaaarrrr!...

Yes I like it, but see how we all look back and laugh at the ridiculous predictions of Tomorrow's World and sixties films, back when people thought we'd all be traveling around in flying cars by now and living in self-cleaning smart houses? Well this is no different.

This stuff never happens, and on the rare occasions when it does, it's always just been added to some expensive hotel somewhere or the company's own offices and not in every single shop and home like people say it will.
We don't even use our relatively simple MP3 players to their limits, never mind anything like that. (Apparently most people only use an average of about 20% of their Ipod's-excuse me, *barf!* I hate that word-memory capacity, and no one uses them to store and show photos to people).

I'm waiting until they implant all that technology into our brain, so we can just look at each-other and be able to share photos, music, 'friends' and life that way.

Kam: We're talking future prospects here. It's actually rather likely that more and more stores will phase out cash payments, as they increase the risk of robbery (no money in a till means no money to be stolen). There's a supermarket downtown (downtown Amsterdam, that is ;) ) that's done so already -- they only accept plastic.

Also, if the tab is kept by the electronic surface of the bar, you can wave your cash all you want, but without a back-up you'll still be unable to pay.

Besides, I wasn't just talking about paying bills. These electronic surfaces seem to integrate a lot of functions, so a power cut or a malfunction would have a rather large impact on users. Of course, we do see them used in combination with handheld devices (phones, I think), so that would solve part of the problem.

I agree that it's a cool idea, though. I'm just saying that it wouldn't be very wise to rely solely on computers. It's a gadget, a useful gimmick, and I'd love to see it in action, but I don't know if it will take off like the clip assumes.

@3 and 6

"Wonder how you pay for your meal in a power cut?"

Hmm yes i wonder...ever heard of cash?

"there should be a backup",

yes its called cold hard cash. Just because we would be using a fancy method to pay for meals doesnt mean we then deam money useless and immediately burn it all in a big fancy pile. Cmon. brains here people.

now we have the pointless remarks out of the way...looks cool!

Hm, sexy technology .. you mean mobile vibs?

David wont like that .. he's in favor of nature''s technology .. (still wonder how tall he is .. considering the height of the bar and such ..or maybe his best card came from under the bar ofcourse .. that's an option as well .. another record).
Nope, def NIkita's world I see .. sexy silence ... but nice technology there as well .. during debriefing and such ..
Or those movies with Keanu R, the matrix or was it another one.
That's the problem with dreams and tv .. we've seen the future already ,, so when it is there we don't see it as anything new .. like, oh ..didn't we have that already?

I miss the old hard copy pictures and albums .. people watch way less pictures nowadays when visiting ... it's different than it used to be. I don't want to be in Nikita's world, watching is nice, but not living it. It will get just as boring as all stuff gets. The brain responds also different to digital stuff than to analog stuff .. or hardcopy stuff ...

The more efficient stuff gets the less the activity itself will give back in ways of enjoyment .. cosyness etc .. and the future youngsters will never know as they can't compare ..

Penis on a bar? Where's that bar?!

Nevermind 'lifestyle choice' what about the potential of this Surface Interactive Technology to help educate our younger population in schools. The application to stimutate or engage our younger students of today through touch, hearing and sight can offer it's own rewards - including mental development disorders and partial help for the disabled perhaps!

It can also be a lot of fun!

I'm starting to feel the need for an iPhone again! If only I had Derren's income...?
