More people are visual or kinethstetic (hands on) learners rather then auditory, so it would make sence that most are better with faces then names.

To help me be better at names i visually picture the name in my mind and link it to the persons face. So i visually see the two together or in some cases if the name is funny for example if there last name was Head id imagine them having a huge head, or if their first name was Dick... you can see where im going lol.

LOL - that picture, it's hilarious!! Made me laugh for long time.

Interesting how much information about humans brain function increase all the time. Sometimes I'm wondering my self that how much there still is that we don't know. But so it has been said - humans only use littel part of their capacity.

Derren has shown us a glimpse of what is possible. I just have to admire how he uses his brains to do what he does.

That photo is hilarious.

Indeed though, I don't know that if i asked anyone I know that any would say they're better with names than faces. Faces are so unique and distinguishable and unless they're one of those rare bizarre names, names are just words that as we know are immediately processed without thinking, pretty much like that example where all the letters are mixed up but most people can, without stumbling, read an entire paragraph of scrambled words. So as the names are just words, they're not really processed whereas a face tends to be subjected to more process in the brain because to varying degrees they're all unique.

Hmmm... I breastfed both my kids, and I am horrible at names and great with faces. However, I am convinced that the little ones somehow have sucked out my braincells because I can't remember much of anything.

I'm bad with names AND faces. It's kind of weird how the memory deals with faces. I'll often be able to remember the exact details of the location a person was in when I met them, their clothes, their movements, what they said -- yet their face is a blank/blur. Must be stored in another location (one that doesn't work too well :P ).

I do remember once I've met somebody a few times, though. And after that, I'll keep recognizing them, even after many years (I recently saw a girl I went to school with, and I recognized her, while she didn't recognize me).

Brains are strange things! :)

Some? I don't know anyone who is better with names.

It depends in my case on mood, interest in that particular moment, stress, state of mind due to other reasons .. which controls the hormonal stuff etc ofcourse .. (yes, it can be the other way around as well, I know .. hehehe .. ). Also, we all wil have our facial preferences which we love to keep in our memory system.

I do see a change in mothers, but this is, according to me, mainly a matter of focussing (or letting go of their normal focus) .. it's the person him/herself who probably will raise the level of oxytocin all by him/herself partially. I can get into the same state as mothers, by focussing in another way as well. But maybe it is all about whether you are aware of this and/or whether you do want to be aware of this, or maybe can be aware of this. Type father vs type mother .. lots comes from this as well.

Yes .. mind rules body .. that's mine. Our preferences/way of thinking/seeing things. The question is probably: are we who we wish to be or are we/do we wish to be controlled by our body chemistry. Lots of scientists prefer to see humans and animals as very primitive creatures ... too primitive, they miss out on the I's. They ofcourse focus only on the body results caused by our I's.

Weird enough they never find something if something, according to owner body, is clearly very wrong in the body ... they miss half of it sometimes .. (they miss out on the double operating system which triggers different systems in the body. We boost from 2 systems in my opinion, in different ways.).

Oh well .. I'm surrounded by those each day ... medical scientists ...
they have to see it their way ofcourse ... and I will continue to see it my way and we meet quite often somewhere along the line .. both visions can serve people quite well in the end.
