Big shout goin’ out to the Australian posse. The YAS is an interesting site for those who are both down under and ready to ask questions. Here’s an article by an upcoming illusionist and free thinker Simon Taylor who writes about The Illusion of Cause and Effect. So do yourself a favour and ‘ave a gander.

Nice article.
I just did a paper on irrational decision making for a minor in behavioral finance, which also involved the necessity to see patterns everywhere, resulting in a completely distorted and subjective reality.
Fun stuff!
Hope to see the interview soon too.
Hm, I hear stuff which isn’t there .. hahaha … so I keep up the same system .. trying to explain first in a normal way, but quite often have to leave it unexplained .. or better said, I can explain it .. but science cant cope so well with this enormously complex brain system so most of us just learn to deal with it. Keep us on our toes for sure.
I don’t need illusionists … my own brain does daily shows for me, private shows … how much better can it ever get! Don’t fear, enjoy, stay amazed but dont loose toch with that thing we need to see daily reality … that’s how we stay in touch with eachother and another part of our self.
I always wonder .. if you try to see through an act then you don’t feel the amazement .. so most will probably do it afterwards … if I do it during the act it sometiems becomes too simple and very depressing .. so I actually prefer to do both. Like doing that in socialzing as well to a certain limit …… can’t we see all both in eachother…. the ones that seem a shallow can be cold readers and the seemingly cold readers can be a bit shallow in the back .. many examples can be given here for those typical human interactions which can lead to misunderstandings about eachother real attitude toward people, and how they deal with these systems in other people
2nd life (after 40) is soo much better .. for me that is.
LOL!
That kid looks about 15! Is he any good?
He is holding a small uncooked chicken.
Ha ha, yes Willis the brain I am holding is made out of uncooked chicken. Good spot. Rest assured we thew it in the over before feasting on it after the photo shoot. Mmmm brain shaped chicken. Delicious.
And don’t worry Don K, I do indeed plan on growing some facial hair soon. The 15y/o look doesn’t quite facilitate hypnosis at those corporate events. Generally have to draw on a mustache to age myself up a bit. Thank you Sharpie pens for your delicate black tip on my sensitive upper lip.
Lovely discussion you charming cherubs.
Thanks for posting the article Phillis, hope you liked it.
Wow this is a real hang out for the magician crew. Are there any others on here?
Hey Simon – if you need goatee management tips just email me and I’ll do what I can to help.
Si any vids online anywhere?
Not as yet don K. Will be filming soon actually, I have a stage show in March to promote. There will be three videos but I haven’t decided on what do for all of them exactly. Any requests? What would you fancy seeing a psychological magician do?
slap Paul Daniels about a bit?
I see that Penn & Teller (yes both) were on ‘Don’t forget the lyrics’ in the US last week doing a celebrity for charity thing.
Their chosen charity was the James Randi Educational Foundation. While being anti fraud, pro rationalism and revelling in the wonders of mystery and illusion, i can’t help thinking that a.) James Randi is a pain and b.) millionaire magican types P&T maybe shouldn’t have overlooked some other deserving cause to give their game show money to…
i know have a promo video:
