Sorry I’m late on this one (blame NTL and their hopeless ability to provide internet in lest than 6 weeks in central London) but here it is. The rather wonderful design by our favourite Quirkology professor Dr Wiseman. Stare at it for 30 secs with your brightness turned up and then look at a blank white wall and blink.

Ooh me likey
Great illusion!
Even better is the thread of comments on the Richard Wiseman blog – check it out!
Yeah I really liked it, illusions are fun. Thanks for posting it Phillis.
Nah .. oh no .. I did this a while ago and had a headache for a few hourse (I overdid the staring into that optical thingie a bit .. as usual .. amusing the hell out of me … but not later on …).
I’ll have a quick peek tomorrow though .. at work .. (we have this commercial right now on tv .. about the stuff people do at their job … (throwing wet teabag to the ceiling and clock which stays the longest up there … wrap yourself in toilet paper (oh, I did that around my 30′st .. in fact, we wrapped the whole department ..)
Oh Phillis… You found my weakness for Trompe-l’oeil. Perhaps you should look at Escher and/or Johann Heinrich!
Well, would not call it an optical illusion. In fact, an ugly pic is more I’d say ..
It is too sunny in my office… now I have sore eyes and I am thouroughly disapointed in myself! I will try again at home under cover of darkness!
[...] 30/60 secs with your brightness turned up to max and then look at a blank white wall and blink.
Now everyone in work thinks I’ve gone mad…
