What I know for certain is that there is a black and yellow snake in the bush outside my bedroom window and that I refuse to venture into my own backyard. I'll leave the Malaysians to deal with their graphic threat.

TARANTALERT is my new favourite word, thanks for that.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1049755/Spider-kills-pet-dog-paratrooper-accidentally-brings-home-Afghanistan.html
Here's another dangerous monster on the loose. The article is from August, but it might still be out there, or it might have spawned more dog-killing monsters. Alternatively, it might be made of pipecleaners.

It's just the snake god Nabau, guys. No need to compicate things.

Gods are always a bit blurry in photographs because of their ineffable nature & because they're always nipping between the multiverses. It's perfectly normal and not necessarily anything to do with Photoshop.

My favourite bit about the spider prank was the TARANTALERT helpline.

Rob - if that's the case I'm rather more alarmed at where the cameraman is keeping his camera between shots :0

Don't even need photoshop for that one, a length of rubber hose and a blurry photo does the trick just fine.
It also brings to mind the recent great white shark scare off the coast of Cornwall, which was reported on the front page in several national newspapers a couple of years ago, until someone rightly pointed out that the water looked too tropical and there were no defining Cornish landmarks in the photo. At which point the guy that took the snap confessed he took it on holiday in South Africa!

LOL. That's terrible for two reasons:
1. spiders are horrendous monsters and the most terrifying things alive
2. Tarantulas are almost entirey harmless, seriously, there's something like 3 species of spider in th entire world that can really hurt you, unless you're allergic or compromised somehow. Did people really believe in a deadly one loose in Bristol?
I'm laughing with disapproval. Pipecleaner spiders are an abomination.
Maybe the giant snake in the picture is the same species as the fossil found recently! Maybe it wasn't a fossil! MAYBE THEY WOKE IT UP!

It reminds me of Derren's tarantula prank from "Tricks of the Mind" In which he created hysteria by putting up posters around Bristol of a deadly tarantula on the loose, then made one out of pipecleaners and stuck it to the roof of the indoor market.
Be honest, is this another of Derren's pretend animal pranks?!?
