"i think that we need some sort of guidance"

Personally, I feel we need to take responsibility for ourselves & not seek guidance from others. For one thing, some neuroscientists reckon that our brains are hardwired to be moral anyway, it's immoral behaviour which comes from our peers.

@Christine...but if you look around you there are always people around, from who you can learn, others who give solace, others who give something else you need, or the other way around ....I think, Now more then ever, we realise that the church hasn´t got this as sole purpose and we might as well fulfill these roles ourselves conciously

We are afterall, capabel of alot more then `some` people want you to believe....

bah.

just when will the church stop to be an outright parody of itself??

i hate that, because i think that we need some sort of guidance, that in our day and age we ought to have some ethics' reference, so who is going to provide us with that? philosophers? who will listen to them? their message isnt popular.
politicians? who believe more in the inner workings of money and worship the economy?
so, who?
i think that from a purely pragmatic prospective, the churches (amongst others) had a role to fulfill, and it saddens me that they disqualify themselves so easily.

And now all the others please ... I know this one made the worst comments (at least, those that reached the media), but he probably is not the only one who reasons like that ... all the others back out now ofcourse .. commercial business there as well .. plain politics .. Still too many weird surreal ideas in those circles which have nothing to do anymore with present life as it is (well, it probably didnt way back either ..)
