Meh- complementarianism makes me sad, even outside of a religious setting. I haven’t seen the research, but this seems hella fishy and certainly oversimplified. (And word about that labcoat kel.)

In general: with time male and female learn to develop their other side as well .. so if you were more into the gist you’ll get a little bit more into the details as well and vice versa … People will confront you with your lack of one half all the time .. that’s why …. Some already learned to work both for other reasons. Relationships can prevend you from developping though at times, some relationships. both partners will run into extremes ..

For some reason those halves also seem to become more an issue in relationships … ancient preferences pop up … or maybe it was the reason for starting the relationship etc … But why would you want to become less than you are ???? So if you are developped quite well on both sides it will be hard to get into a relation …

Only thing i can acknowledge is that both details and gist is needed to come to an overall picture of ANything…….did you notice how he not only pronounces amygdaLA but also deTAILS rather funnyeyeh!

besides what a weird thing to say. “if these data mean anything“…and then “they create one of the strongest arguments for the genders to work together“….maybe he needs to show this data to the strong religious for it to mean anything, cause i was not aware of others not working together?

Katherine: Well, not exactly the same way, I’d imagine, but I can see how there’d be some general differences. Though I think this is about storing the event, rather than dealing with it.

On that note, it’d be nice to know WHAT exactly this guy is talking about. I get that it’s about traumatic events, and men focus on the gist of the matter and women on the details, generally speaking. But that tells me exactly nothing about what they do with gist or details. Remember them more? Use them in describing the event? In handling the situation? In dealing with it after the fact?
This snippet is like an explanation of a fact when you don’t know the initial fact. Needs more info.
