When the Greek Philosophers found that the square root of 2 is not a rational number, they celebrated the discovery by sacrificing 100 oxen.
The much more profound discovery that pi is a transcendental number deserves a greater sacrifice. Again mathematics triumphed over common sense.

They ought to be considered lucky. I’m studying Computer Games Technology (BSc Hons) and one of the modules is Maths. An area in that module is Physics, and I was ready to go on a murderous rampage when I was struggling with Centres of Gravity in objects… so many stupid mistakes
Now I have it. Took practice, but I can do it quite easily now. Who knows, if we actually find a solution for, say, the root of negative one, we will be at the same levels as Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer Win.
Is that in radians?
What the Pi` is that about…?…can someone explain that in normal english please….
Is it about errr….Every situ-pi-ation, has it+s equasion? hmm…
“woo hoo – go Pi you…“
Somehow i have Yu-gi-oh figures in my head now!…grr
I was giggling so much at the suggestions of how to celebrate Pi day. Thanks.
I don’t like math, so I’ll celebrate PIZZA PIE day instead!
A good book is ‘The joy of pi’ by David Blatner

The following 2 quotes are from the back page:
The height of an elephant (from foot to shoulder) is 2 x pi x the diameter of its foot.
The first 144 digits of pi add up to 666…Of course , 144 equals (6+6) x (6+6)
Happy Pi Day indeed!

That\’ll teach them pesky mathematicians for promoting their hair-brained theories about the area of a circle in the public domain!
A Greek philosopher looked to the sky
I’ll invent a number named pi!
Irrational I think
That’ll cause a big stink
For years they’ll be wondering why.

Plus, 2 can equal 1 if you really tried:

My old college profesor used to celebrate PI day, he could recall about 200 numbers after 3. it was cool i guess.
