Dearest blog frequenters – you shouted – we responded! Many of you are constantly asking what Derren is reading, listening too or watching. Well in general reading seems to be the biggest deal due to the colossal pile of books that turns up every day.
There’s a rumour that Amazon have their own warehouse just to store DB’s orders and Brown Towers has a full time “Official Librarian” – although I haven’t actually seen him on the lower floors so far this year. Derren also has an e-reader – we will let you know how that pans out too.
So click on this feed in future and you’ll find a regular string of things that DB himself is reading or recommending and we will do our best to at least get a comment or two about it and you too can fill your house with plentiful amounts of clutter and crap.

By the way…I’m having real problems with my computer on this blog. I can not see half the pictures on this page and I have to listen to an audio for the Anti-spam just to post. Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve tried emptying the cache, I use Firefox and I have checked different websites and used another machine to see if there is any change. Now I’m stuck for technical advise – Help…Pleeese. Anyone?

Am starting to worry about keeping up though, the pile of books under my bed waiting to be read is already quite sizeable. Does Derren really read much faster than me or does he just have the luxury of more time in which to pursue this worthwhile activity? Perhaps its not reading blog comments very often that frees up the time.
He doesn’t actually have to read. He just googles a picture of the author, looks deep into his eyes and squints at the lines on his face a bit, then he’s pretty much got the gist of their life philosophy, as embodied in any literature they’ve created. Right Derren?

You had all better watch yourself! I once heard Derren hypnotised a hippo into thinking it could fly and it took off into space. Just imagine what he’d do to you!

Derren’s pile will be by now be known as the DVB towers … ehehe … I think he places the book to his forehead and then he will download it to his brain .. can be done while sleeping … very practical technique …
I’m reading a madonna biography right now. And planning to read the book her brother wrote as well.
I like what she pulled of till now all by herself. And just love seeing/listening to her shows. Love the dancers. Her music is not really my taste all the time, but it is a very personal style. She’ll be remembered for sure, her stage personality. In which is most of her self. i appreciate her non submissive personality on stage, back then and now. She appears to be very fond of gay guys .. I wonder .. what she’s thinking about Brown … probably not gay enough in a way.
I would love to know what Derren thinks of his ereader.
Just thought – Derren speed read that entire library in one particular episode of “Trick of the Mind” didn’t he?
How the hell are we going to keep up with what he’s reading if he can commit a book to memory in 10 seconds flat. In the time he takes to read “War and Peace” I’d just about manage “Where the Wild Things Are”!
I don’t know, Flapjack. Let’s copy exactly what he does and see if it works. After all, what’s the point of watching something on TV if you aren’t going to emulate it later with possibly disasterous consequences?
ScreamingGreenConure – I approve of your theory, though my sister\’s never quite recovered from being tied up in a sack and dumped in a lake. But I can speed-read, so it\’s not all bad.
I swear to god I will do it. I will find the clip on youtube later tonight and damn well copy it and see if it works. I’m all about the crazy ideas, you know.

Also Derren does not speed read a book in 10 seconds – it can take an entire hour or even longer if it’s a reference book or technical manual. Only fiction can be super speed read and even then it’s not an enjoyable way to do it.
Well, I can’t attempt to blindly copy this speed reading thing for science since I can’t find it on YouTube. A search for “Derren Brown Speed Reading Tricks of the Mind” got me a clip of him torturing Robbie Williams. I think so, anyway, I stopped watching, because I have limits.
I guess that experiment was a fail, also I really need a hug and I am not doing any more searches on YouTube for anything for at least 30 minutes. Good idea for a new category though.
