A study has found that the thickness of the insulation of our brain’s white matter is directly linked to IQ. Memory, self-control, planning, logic and mathematical ability are all linked to the quality of myelin sheath that protects nervews of white matter from damage, according to New Scientist magazine.
Scientists at the University of California in Los Angeles examined the brains of 23 sets of identical twins and the same number of fraternal twins using a new type of magnetic resonance imaging scanner called HARDI. MRI scans usually show volumes of different tissues in the brain by measuring the amount of water present.HARDI determines water levels diffusing through white matter – an indirect measurement of myelin integrity.

Interesting. I don’t know too much about physiology, it’s really the structure of Psychology and emotion I find I am good at – although I generally still take into account the importance of the body in producing a behavioural state. If the thickness of the skull is linked somehow, I’d guess it may be down to water levels. I know that plenty of hydration gives more beneficial states and gives the brain ‘more permission’ to speed up its functions, though I am saying this in a very general sense.

Hm … what if the speed goes up TOO high … so when the white stuff is TOO thick .. not good I bet .. not good …. how do we keep up with too high speed ….. can the brain handle … or should I say, the body …
So instead of injecting our lips, boobs and buts we can start filling up our brains with myelin …. a little boost … hehehe …
From what I’ve get it’s not telling something about someone’s IQ at all, just something that will lead to trouble if it is not there (anymore) the right way.
