The Zeitgeist Movie is an interesting set of ideas - but it unfortunately suffers from some heavy inaccuracy. Within the first 10 minutes (after you've got past all the music videos) there's a string of inaccuracy in there which unfortunately makes this an unreliable source of information.

The 9/11 section of the movie is also dabbling in conspiracy theory too. I find the 9/11 arguments fascinating in one way, however dig deep enough and there is a lot of evidence in there to suggest otherwise that is not presented - they also miss out on some really nice opportunities to target the works of Jason Burke (Al Qaeda) and John Perkins (confessions of an economic hit man). A lot of fun if a little too American for my liking.

The second issue that talks about money is also interesting and more educating and we do like this one more - but if you want a truly professional documentary about this subject check out the fantastic I O U USA:

Send me any other movie suggestions - I'm always willing to blog about conspiracy theories.

The first half of each Zeitgeist film is very interesting. The second half of the first is a bit conspiracy-theory-ridden, but it does have some good points. The second half of the second film Zeitgeist Addendum is a bit hippy-like and new age at first watch, but it does actually make a lot of sense. If you just watch the bit in the first film about the story of Jesus being entirely Astrological, along with Bethlehem, the Three Kings (Orion's belt) pointing to the exact spot of the sunrise on December 22nd, where it remains at its lowest point in the sky for 3 days before it is "reborn" on December 25th, then you'll enjoy it. I didn't quite believe that bit could possibly tie up, but I witnessed it with my own eyes at the end of 2008. It still holds true in modern day. Jesus is the SUN (of) God. The first film is good to get things in context. The second film, Zeitgeist Addendum and it's story of Modern money mechanics and how we arrived at where we all are today, is absolutely bang on.

Go to zeitgeistmovie.com and watch em for free

Rather strangely, Peter Joseph, the creator of these films, bears a striking resemblance to Mr Derren Brown, even down to his choice of suit, albeit a bit younger with more hair! He's also a very intelligent chap.

I thought I'd heard all the hokey theories for the existance or non-existance of god.
My favourite was when I was at college and going through an agnostic phase. A flatmate's aquaintance from Devon told me he had proof there was a god. After a big buildup and a few drinks, he revealed what this proof was. He claimed to have a photograph of Noah's ark from when it actually happened.
Well praise the lord of anachronism, it seemed that Canon were creating SLR cameras long before the great flood! I was really hoping to see these photos of Noah's private yacht, but none were forthcoming. I had to make do with him speaking in tongues for the next half hour with his hand on my knee. Disturbing doesn't begin to describe it! He wasn't invited back...

I find it very hard to believe in religion even a little bit. I have very good reason for it too.

The first is that the Bible is not a historical document.

The second is that there was no proof of Jesus Christ's resurrection (if there was proof, I'd be more readily interested in Christianity).

Those are the two big arguments Derren has mentioned. However, I would like to add a third - a MUCH stronger argument in my opinion.

Has anyone seen the Zeitgeist movies? If you have then you will no doubt be catching on to what I'm about to say. I don't necessarily agree with everything in those movies but the first issue it discusses on religion in the first movie really put me off from ever asking if it is true.

The movie points to an overwhelming amount of astrological references located in the Bible. It also reveals that the birth of the Messiah actually comes from the alignment of stars (can't remember which), and that Messiah myths well before 0 A.D. all had the same attributes - Born on 25th December (stars), had 12 disciples (connected with the Zodiac), betrayed, crucified, resurrected etc. I dunno if Derren, Phillis or Coops have seen this movie - if you haven't, I greatly recommend it if you can stand the 9/11 conspiricy propaganda (I think it was a set up, but not to the extreme described here) and the slightly confusing treacherous monatary system (money IS debt? sure explains our economic situation right now...).

However, despite all of these things I consider 'proof', it doesn't make me any more right or wrong. God could make even evidence into an illusion for all I know. But personally, I would like to believe in something more certain: that is myself, and what I choose to believe in.

God is ofcourse completely out of place in this topic ..

Spirituality is no longer spirituality if reason comes in .. although it may still sound spiritual at times to some .. only when you've been on the inside and know why you will put it out in that type of words you will know why it is not spiritual but crisp clear reason .. which can sound vague to those who are not aware of this or haven't seen this from their own inside ..

Ofcourse there is more than the world as we know it right now .. but to call that spirituality ... Nah, no way. There is just no other way than forward .. this train can't be stopped anymore .. even if some would foresee it crash sometime in the very far future ....

People like to see it at times in a spiritual way .. by stepping outside of it theirselves and looking at it from a distance .. not from their true selves ... without the feelings, sweat, pain, anger etc .... in order to cope a bit better with this path ... with this struggle .. as life will remain life ... if you have to live life, if you live life ... spirituality is not life ... it's just a way to deal with things .. not to feel it in your inner gut ... it gives you this light feeling on the inside .. you sort of soar above life ... and comment from there ... Unfortunately (?) you will have to come down at one point again ... your body will ask for this if you yourself does not want to come down to real life ... till a certain age ... after that this spiritual system is no longer your spiritual system but the way you need to live life with a different content and focus ... spirituality will remain down there but without its value ... people start to choose for their own selfes ..

You can see towards any topic in a spiritual way if you wish .. sometimes it will help you forward temporarily ... to guide your own psyche via an indirect system ... it's less painfull than cold hard reason .. more easy to swallow ..

Path of creativity = infinite.
Borderline between the known and unknown = end of the path of creativity.

Therefore.... we will never know what is beyond our capabilities?

:'(

Meh, we shall march forward anyway!
For inspiration and creativity in science, or any subject, is the heart of the human spirit!
