Who decideds who is a real Scientists and who is not? That is the problem with extreme scepticism, you throw the baby out with the bath water.
You see this happening with Entanglment, sceptics claimed it never existed but Alain Aspect and his team have verified Bell's Theorem.
The implications of which are that Einstein's premise that nothing can travel faster than light is wrong.
However, entanglment also does have implications for phenomena like telepathy and the results according to Sheldrake, Radin et are that these phenomena are real and more importantly the effects are mesaurable. Time will tell who is right and who is wrong and I doubt it wil be Dawkins who is right he is just a gatekeeper.

Sure Pete I'll look in to it - not sure why only some people have the /'s... we only see it a little.

With the captcha we did have that in place but got a few complaints it wouldn't let people post at all. It will have to wait as were on the main art site at the mo but i'll queue it. Ta

Also, not wishing to nit-pick, but could coops/phillis/whoever modify the system whereby comments are unslashed when returned to a page? Having lots of slashes in front of apostrophes is an avoidable problem.

Likewise with the checking of the captcha - a little bit of Javascript and AJAX wouldn't go amiss in just stopping the form from working until the captcha section is filled in.

All of which are valuable social skills that are vital in a modern society. Yes.

It seems that whilst obviously exposure to new media whilst children are still developing can have unknown influences, attempting to claim that the social interactions which are specific to the digital medium as not being equal to that of real-life interactions is a hopelessly skewed view of social evolution. Sites such as Wikipedia are a form of social networking - different users communication information into a central repository. Arguably, the ability to communicate with people based on shared interests and desire to contact, rather than simply physical proximity (which, lets face it, is a large factor in deciding childhood friends), is a positive progression of the way in which we as a society interacts with each other.

Of course, as the Daily Mail would have it, I\'m just one of the brain-washed masses who partakes in this smorgasbord of digital communication because it\'s \'cool\' and \'hip\'. Quite.

Don't knock drinking vodka down the park... spent a lot of my childhood doing that, its teaches you valuable life skills, like how to pretend to be sober when your drunk and how to run away from the gaurds... you know important things that will serve you well for the rest of your life.

As a teenager within the specified age-range, I can quite safely say that every moment spent on the computer is like a void of emptiness and despair - I long to be outside, in the cold, meeting up with friends to then walk around town with absolutely nothing to do for several hours. Each time I find myself searching Wikipedia for information on esoteric subject matter brought up in my numerous MSN conversations, I am saddened by the fact that I could instead be out drinking shitty vodka down by the park.

I feel so alone :(
