I’m a big fan of Einstein! He’s so awesome and I love him performing at TED. One day I’ll have a grey. They are my favourite parrot species, and instead of clipping the wings like almost everyone does in North America I will recall train him (or her) and he (or she) will fly through hoops and even if he (or she) never says a word I will love him (or her) tons.
Mind you, I said that about my cockatiel and conure and they both talk, even if the conure does think he is called Jack. Nothing like as clear as a grey can get, but understandable.
Funny thing about talking parrots is that they really will try to copy the tone of voice of their owner … so one hello or meow is not the other. They click back as well … lots of people make clicking sounds with their tonque in front of their cage ..
Instead of Einstein they’d better call them copy cat or such, or parrot … It’s ofcourse not their intelligence that they show off ..
I myself try to copy bird sounds now and then … I would not be called einstein when someone would take me to a show … that’s for sure. My birds give me THE EYE if I do the sounds …. Like, .. what? What’s that weird noise overthere … They hardly respond to me but if I put up a cd with bird sounds they all of sudden do respond .. immense. I suck apparently.
SGC: You know quite a bit about parrot behavior, right? I’m wondering why she keeps doing that thing with the feathers on her head and neck, puffing them up and then letting them down again… does that mean anything in parrot talk?
The african grey parrot is the prettiest of all. I have one and I fell in love with them the first time I saw them. Their color and red tail are unique. The parrot in this video is talented, I believe that parrots are one of the most important species that live on earth.
Berber Anna: I know bits, not a ton. They can puff up to show agression or if they’re about to fall asleep, it can mean several things, but I think in this case Einstein is just rearranging her feathers. And she is so reaching for that mic, that’s awesome.
saw this myself ages ago, it’s on my youtube favourites, has been for months parrots are such fantastic creatures aren’t they!!! I wish I still had a parrot.

Aww! Lovely! I hope people listen to what Einstein has to say. Save the parrots! Save the world!
Maybe I expect to much but I’m quite surprised Einstein didn’t manage to squeeze an E=mc squared into that presentation.
what an amazing parrot, but i know how intelligent greys are…they are wonderful and pick up very quickly…great
Can’t see it yet, the clip. Too bad!

Epic Parrot Win!
We needz more!
I wish I was as talented as that parrot!..
Despite the fact that I mastered speech as an infant, this still amazes me.

And she’s puffing a lot when she reaches for the mic, so she might be showing interest.

Fantastic. I love these birds. I would never own a bird though. Birds have wings, they are meant to fly free not be stuck in a cage.
its just a parrot! the real question is…..
How does the parrot connect me to the rest of the world?
