hmmm.
I think it is really importnant to raise awareness of differing mental health conditions, the numbers of people suffering and the range of aproaches to supporting people with mental health problem, especially in a time when we seem to be creating a raft of new medical conditions. This footage is shocking. I spent some time in northern Romania in the ’90′s when the Romanian orphanages stories broke. The conditons in adult facilities were Dickensian, men and women with a range of conditions were just locked up together for the night. This led to all sorts of horrors so they started sterilising the woment before they put them on the wards. They were not chained. They did in fact have a strange degree of freedom.
