Very interesting article - I am shocked to hear that they don't go through double blind check tests as a matter of standard practice. And since it is only the forensic labs that receive work from the police, there isn't much of a chance of open debate - like a defense forensic expert who would have the same forensic technique knowledge.

Worrying...

Without a dna bank which includes dna of all people of the world lots of case will never be solved or solved the wrong way. Whereas dna is still not 100% proof. Would be interesting to see whether there are matches in such a bank. The fear is ofcourse among people that people will misuse their dna, so that they will be convicted for something they did not do. Other than that there should be no reason not willing to give your dna I guess. They already got your name etc (well, there are quite a few left on this planet from which that will not be the case, but the chances that those will commit a crime overhere is not that high ..).
Political games, ego cases, money, plain lazy researchers in the field etc., apart from the so called scientific evidence, I dont trust this crime solving team a 100% either. All humans ..
