Painting with light in photo format isn’t all that new – there’s examples of Dali and Picasso messing with it. But recently its taken off with rather wonderful results that are really pushing the boundaries.
Sorry guys, but it must be said…less quantity, more quality blog posts. This is DVB’s blog isn’t it? Just my opinion, but this site is getting a little tedious. I don’t do anything more than skim the post titles any more.
I like it! Besides it’s my birthday Crae so please no awful remarks until the 18th hmm? That is unless it’s your birthday. Which, if it is, I will give you a big hug.
Crea: maybe you could come up with some suggestions or send some things to Phyllis which you consider worthwhile reading/watching? I’m not disappointed with this blog, although there will always be posts which are of less interest to me, but that’s normal, in life. I think Derren’s job attracts way more type of people than you might expect, considering what he does. Not that you are not aware of that ofcourse, So, look forward to see a few posts of you here then as well. I like broadening my world.
Those paintings are not really my taste. It’s a bit too artificial, and some of the pictures are nice without the addition, although we may have seen them so much, that people might be a bit bored with it. Beauty bores as well, if you see it too often. It’s not the light object itself I dislike, I probably dislike the setting they have been put into. I’d put them more in such a way that the focus is completely on them, now the background distracts .. it conflicts in my opinion .. and takes the focus here and there a way. There are a few in which this is less the case, at least that’s what I feel when watching them.
The lights reminded me a bit of spiritual art I have to say. And at the same time it reminded me of something else I was thinking about today … what if we could see our self in our brain … show ourself via our brain … so in an petscanner or mri … and show our movements in our brain .. the moving of our self in our brain .. via light signals .. or clusters .. Normally you will see mainly the things scientists want to see as far as I know … and def. not centered somewhere … but certain areas are more busy, that’s what can be seen … and that’s our self we see to then … Like .. I’m here … hello! And that reminded me of people in a coma, or catatonic states. It would be so much more helpfull if they could be sure what is truely someone’s self in these brains … you even could wonder if you could communicate via such a system … if nothing else works anymore. If the self is trapped in the brain and cant signal via normal ways. Not that scientists will not have thought of this ofcourse. A constant monitor of the brain processes .. not just a few ..
Oops .. went very OT here. But the image of the self in full centered glory up there … alive, flickering … energy … that’s us! Nature’s art!
That looks just stunning! alot is possible ofcourse with software now but still it´s very impressive…
