I have to wonder whether you influenced someone to put you on the list of most influential people. I secretly hope so.
how on earth they can put derren behind such idiots as peter mandleson,alan carr,paul O’grady,and well,the other 47 candidates…it’s an outrage!
Chris Carney: Indeed. I’m not usually one to cry ‘privilege’, but that guy does a damn great job at representing the poor, persecuted majority. Maybe there’s gay, black and female lists because the people on these lists stand out from the majority of leadership figures, which still seems to mostly consist of straight white males…
On the other hand, lists like these, while in a way empowering, do sort of create an ‘us vs them’ feel — they seem to define these people as part of a minority, instead of just great people, without the need for an adjective (gay/black/female) to ‘justify’ honoring them.
Frankly, though I see the point of lists like these, I hope society will progress towards being so inclusive as to not need ‘influential [minority]‘ lists anymore, because it’s no longer ‘strange’ or remarkable for individuals from a minority to be influential. And I do believe we’re on our way to such a society already, luckily.
Now how about he steps up to being a role modal?
just an idea.
just maybe a little something on equality or attending a stonewall event?

Perhaps he aims to be the guy behind the scenes, mentally manipulating the other 50 people who stand between him and the top slot. Am I onto something here?

If Peter Tatchell starts making speeches with a non-sequiteur pre-amble about using a mixture of psychology, misdirection and showmanship then we know who’s really doing the talking for him!

“Pink” list? How stereotypically gay in the “poofiest” way possible. Cant gay and bi people be just ordinary people? No, obviously not! That pic is so unflattering too, he looks about 70.

He’s been dropping hints for years, such as “…make sure I don’t flick the bean… which’d be a first.” or something to that effect in one of his ‘Tricks of the mind’ episodes.
I also liked the “In which, one lucky lady has the chance to win a finger ring from me.” in another.
I wont tell you which ones… you’ll have to go buy/watch them all to spot it
