Stendhal syndrome, Stendhal’s syndrome, Hyperkulturemia, or Florence syndrome, is a psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness,confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to art, usually when the art is particularly beautiful or a large amount of art is in a single place. The term can also be used to describe a similar reaction to a surfeit of choice in other circumstances, e.g. when confronted with immense beauty in the natural world.

tut tut derren. Now i realise why i have been suffering such symptoms – the launch of the beautiful art site.
In my art college it was usually brought on by recreational drugs.
The students probably could’ve saved themselves some cash by using placebos around the exhibition space, but maybe the art on show wasn’t quite up to doing the job on it’s own.
I’m glad excessive diarrhea isn’t on the list.

I’d say this thing does not only occur when in the presence of great beauty but due to many things … a bit a weird syndrome … I’d say … and if you read where the name comes from …. crap!
