Throwing “swine flu parties” in an attempt to get immunity against the virus while it is a fairly mild form is not a good idea, doctors say.
Reports have emerged of people intentionally mixing with friends who have flu. Their reasoning is that it is best to be infected before the winter when the virus could become more deadly. But public health expert Dr Richard Jarvis said such behaviour could undermine the fight against swine flu.
He also stressed while it was a mild flu, people would still be putting their health and the health of their children at risk. Dr Jarvis, chairman of the British Medical Association’s public health committee, has been working for the Health Protection Agency in the north west to help test, diagnose and treat people who have got swine flu.

Swine flu parties? What’s next, HIV parties? “Measles parties” and such are regularly held around our parts by, uhm, “responsible parents” who seem to think that punishing their kids by making them sick (or even dead) is a good idea. Let’s hope that the long term effects of an H1N1 infection include resistance against quackery.
Seriously? Damn. That’s my plans for this weekend cancelled, then.
Ehehehe …. haven’t been invited yet, but hey …
I read they want to have people vaccinated twice this fall … I dont think I’ll fetch them. I’m not belong to a vulnerable risk group and as I cant recall ever having suffered from regular flu’s (not that I noticed that is).
And hey … after having had the weirdest things in my system without doctors even bothering …. why should I care? Same goes for way too many people. Lots of people suffer from constant dizzy spells, heart rate disturbances etc .. and doctors can not find out due to what … meanwhile a lot of those people are forced to be in bed … left on their own with a “sorry, we have no clue what is the matter …. ”
Same as with antibiotics … it is there but most of us dont even will be able to use it , doctors are very reluctant to give it (here, in Holland)…. as .. wow .. what if the little buggers and such get resistent!!! Geeezzzz … And you can be sure that the same doctors will be the first to use antibiotics when it concerns theirselves or their family …
