I’m really looking forward to this. I have no idea what he will be doing in any of the shows, and I think that is what is making me want to watch them. If we were told Derren would be doing such-a-thing on one programme, then It would spoil the build up.

Never really watched any of Derren\’s shows on television when they were on, so I got all the DVDs instead and this new series I\’m guessing is going to blow my mind even more.
I\’m guessing the advert was shot in two takes (when stood next to the girl with the ballon and the last car goes past before he sets off walking backwards) and probably done on a green screen.
The truck wasn’t close,that is the start point.. The tape is run backwards..
Here what I’ve got:
1) Red & Black = roulette
2) Balloon has Barclays Bank logo on it (I think)
3) Lottery numbers on the lamppost (and the bus saying ‘it will be you’ – rather than ‘it could be you)
4) Manchester United website reversed on the poster – links to DB C4 website
5) Stuck to my sofa pizza poster – links to Derren Brown C4 website

All i noticed was Manchester United on the board (in their colours red, white and black), could be coinsidence, then again, maybe not. That’s a very smart trailer aswell might I add, although no doubt filled with ‘hidden messages’, but it makes the show extremely intruiging; and I am intruiged! Roll on September!

Mean while i will be at home in london a couple of miles away frustrated and on edge of my seat. I think this more intresting the the roulette by far as you knew the two out comes of that event. This is more about the unexpected, expectations of the viewer and nerves of one man on TV.

Unless I am very much mistaken that whole advert was just played in reverse. So it started with him actually stood in front of a parked lorry.
The clever bit (if I am right) is that he had to speak backwards the entire time. Which isnt that hard – although its impressive that he memorised 40 seconds worth (although we dont know how many cuts were in that).

Couple of questions: as it is called the Events, does it mean lots of things happening in one show, or a few things happening in a few shows? Or neither? Will it be the 9th or the 11th? And what is ‘The Game’??? Ive heard strange things about this ‘Game’…
All these clues remind me of ‘Masquerade’ by Kit Williams; with the blog represening the book itself, cunningly woven with hints and secrets. The Events in September I’m sure will feel like digging up the treasure at the end, and hopefully everything will become clear when we tune in! There are many similarities, for example alike Kit Williams, Derren has lost his hare…..

I found by viewing the source on both links provided it links back to somewhere called w3.org which is just way over my head and none of the content seems to make any sense, although I’m sure it is a legit site for web standards. Thinking about it, England Vs Croatia is on 09/09/09.
Maybe Manchester United was a clue that went more towards football than a specific team?
They\’re World Cup Qualifiers so people will be watching them, what if \’interference\’ meant that Derren Brown was going to overtake the TV channels?
Events for me would be classed as sport events (hence World Cup Qualifiers)
World Events (with the 9/11 theme on the advert)
And music and dramatic events (I\’ve had a look online but nothing significant arises)

it’s always been said itll be the 9/9/9, but im pretty sure the reason its on the 11th is becasue derren brown shows are usually always shown on Friday night’s on channel 4, which is the 11th sept. the 9th is a wednesday which wouldnt make prime time viewing. i think this is probably the case but not 100%. either way its going to be awesome!

Or does it mean the 09th of November, 09? Only kidding, I reckon it’s an event on the 9th, but the program will be aired on the 11th, possibly partially prerecorded. It makes sense for such a big TV production to be aired on Friday prime-time, rather than mid-week.

More scary watching it forwards – I reckon to record that advert without getting killed is an achievement itself!
Hopefully The Events will run from the 9th to the 12th so that I can see them all before I go on holidays.

The England vs Croatia game is indeed on 09/09/09 and the retsehcnaMdetinU.com site mentions things such as a player being hypnotised when they glanced at the big screen. I am not much of a football fan but I am going to be watching that match! Derren is misdirecting so I don’t think he would just make it lead to one team’s game. Or is he misdirecting us to look at the bigger picture and ignore what is right in front of our eyes?

It\’s weird, I keep going round and round in circles watching this video. There\’s something about his gait that\’s odd. I never really paid too much attention to it before, but watching it this way round, it doesn\’t really look like someone walking forward normally, played backwards, the stride is odd. But then the other way round it doesn\’t look like a normal forwards stride either. the only conclusion I\’ve come to is he must have practised a lot, to have it not look quite right in either direction!! Wouldn’t it be funny if one of the Events episodes put a warning out to tell you that Derren was going to semi-hypnotise you to become stuck to your sofa, which he would then do and people would become stuck,
Then, towards the end of the same programme, he could say he was about to un-stick you, but then the programme cut off and there was a pretend transmission fail. You’d have loads of people thinking they would be stuck to their sofas for eternity.

Before everyone gets excited about the lottery numbers on the lampost if that is what they are, I just want to be a smartarse and say that in the unlikely event that Derren can rig the national lottery so those numbers come up, so many of you will have bought those numbers that the jackpot will be divided between thousands if not millions of people who saw this ad and fancied their chances.
If anyone here wins more than a tenner from it that’ll be something of a miracle in itself.
Unless Derren can also distort the law of economics.

Well, there are two symbols of birds, one on the balloon and the other at detinUretsehcnaM.com
The double-headed bird in the UnaM emblem is not an eagle, but a phoenix, like the mythical Egyptian phoenix bird that had two heads. As it became the cliché emblem over the years, the phoenix was substituted with a double-headed eagle as to stop the allusion to the original symbolism of the phoenix…
The bird on the balloon appears to be a phoenix with its pointy feathers, also looking to the left like the Barclays logo, but I don’t know if the connection with Barclays is necessary without the emblem of UnaM and football.
Probably none of this makes sense, and the birds could be misdirection, although unlikely. However, they probably mean something else.

Can’t get the BBC1 listings for the 9th Sept on their site yet but I see that for the past two Wednesdays the midweek lottery draw has been on at 10.35pm for ten minutes, which is how long and when the live ten minutes of ‘The Events’ is on Ch4 on Wednesday the 9th. Maybe, just maybe………………..
i don’t think we’ll ever be figuring out what he’s on about until we watch it : ) but i’ll definately be watching the match on 9/9/9 just in case he suddenly runs on to the pitch or something along those lines.

saw the surescore website earlier today… but not being much of a footie fan didnt really think much of it… until my dad finished watching the match tonite.. and was not impressed at the score!!! lets just say i am now very very scared….. kinda worried bout tuning in to the events now! might get “glued” to the sofa and never be able to get up!

He did it for the lipsync. Obviously the text is prerecorded and played back in reverse during the whole scene. All he has to do is walk forward and mime his lips.

I don’t like the lottery mainly because I believe it’s got ‘sod all’ to do with luck. Derren loves to explore and examine our belief systems, so, I’m wondering if he might just attempt to create his ‘own kind’ of lottery draw…how exciting would that be!!

LairyT: Right click on the screen in one of the margins of the site (so that you’re not actually on top of a picture), then choose View Page Source from the dropdown menu. Hidden in the code is a comment, something about not choosing 13 because people don’t like it.

I think the guy on the bike maybe was told to speak backwards or mime it and the reverse version is the way they first made it! @CJE – the Sure Score website appears to be one set up by Derren to predict the football results. I only found it though someone’s comments on here but the address is http://www.snoitciderpserocsnerred.co.uk which reads Derrens Score Predictions backwards and it predicted the Man U Arsenal score from Saturday.
Still have no idea how someone came across it though or if there is any reference to the spelling mistakes and extra words on the site!?

I have just had another look at the socre prediction site and have noticed that apart form “Wembly” being spelt wrong, there is also a mention of being “glued to our seats”. I wonder what Mr Brown is upto? I can just imagine everyone being glued to their seats on Wednesday and not getting unstuck until the second show on Friday…haha, imagine that in the papers. @Aaron – the bit on the Big Bucks Generator ‘you to ocould’ I took to be a typing error with the space in the wrong place as it should be ‘you too could’. Wembley is spelt wrong on there as ‘Wembly’, also literally is spelt wrong with two ‘t’s as ‘litterally’ and favourite is missing the ‘u’. Also there is an extra word in the text at the very bottom. ‘The’ doesn’t need to be in the sentence as it doesn’t make sense. I also think the bit ‘we’ve seen some interesting numbers coming in from Man United’ is worded oddly.
I’m flummoxed as to whether any of this means anything though!

on surescore website why is the a picture of a camera? how does this have any relevance? and why is the money in euros?
I think we are supposed to use the numbers given in the clip, to bet on the Euromillions draw. As you only choose five main numbers for that and then 2 star numbers – these will be the ‘random’ numbers we choose. That’s why the money on surescore is in Euros and why it says ‘place small amounts on a really long shot and watch the cash come rolling in’ because it’s only a pound or whatever to enter so thats the ‘small amount’, winning the lottery is a ‘long shot’ and the balls will be ‘rolling in’. This is what we are being directed towards I think, but whether it will actually happen is another matter.

Incidentally, the last-modified date of that image was “Sat, 29 Aug 2009 16:03:58 GMT” – when did the match finish – was it actually a prediction? Also, 2-1 doesn’t indicate which side wins – bit of an ambiguous prediction, even if it was posted before the result came out.
@Mary – I can’t find any reference to it either… I’m suspecting it could be bogus – none of the official sites have had so many typos:
– misspell “litterally” twice,
– misspell “wembly” once,
– misplaced space in “you to ocould”,
– additional word: “we will be predicting the more results”,
– page title “erocserus” – other official sites’ title’s start: “Home Page: ”
These could be clues… or indications the site was put together in a rush!
I saw it a week or so before the game, I think. It wasn’t too hard to find if you watched closely but it spoils the fun if people give it away.
edit: Hmm, i might have to eat my words – the info on the snoitciderpserocsnerred.co.uk domain looks like it might be genuine – much of it matches this very domain (derrenbrownart.com)… perhaps the typos ARE clues after all.
Incidentally, the retsehcnamdetinu.com and stucktomysofa.com domains are registered by Channel4 – but this (and the snoitciderpserocsnerred.co.uk) domain is registered by “Derren Brown Art”.

@Colin the match started at 16:15 GMT (remembering we are currently an hour ahead) – so by that measure it counts as a prediction. Also, the home side score is always given first – so it seems it is a genuine prediction (incidentally, exactly the same score as I predicted for this match – so not *that* impressive perhaps)
Someone mentioned about why there is a camera on the score prediction site, and I maybe way off beam here, but there IS a woman in the pic with an almost exact camera to the icon. Plus (unless my eyes deceive me) there seems a few others taking pics too.
I don’t know what on earth that means, but it’s just an observation, and it probably means nothing…..

@Chris Those were good odds – should have gone for it! I’ve been playing the Guardians “predict the score” game. This week from 10 games, I correctly predicted the score of 2 of them – the Man U game was one of them.

I saw the site late around the night before, its linked to on another post… but the picture of the guy holding up the cards wasn’t there. It was just a grey square saying “photo coming”. I didn’t look till about 8-9pm after the match when it was there.
is there any way to find out if that photo was taken BEFORE the match and not after? it’s defo Trafford as I’ve been enough.

OK, so it’s a pretty decent prediction then… although the odds of guessing it aren’t impossible (did i see 1/4 above?), the egg-on-face factor for posting a prediction right before a national TV show starts would be massive, so Mr B would have to be pretty certain that he wouldn’t have to switch images and hope no-one noticed.
So… assuming he’s not manipulating the game… could be manipulating any other facts? Can anyone 100% vouch for seeing the 2-1 image before the match started? Could he have created images for every result?
Either way, I’m bookmarking that site and betting heavily if any more predictions come up!!!
@Colin. I’ve put a fair few bets on and 4-1 is not the odds of that score ocuring. It would be something like 20-1 so it depends on when you put it on and who you went to. 4-1 odds is pretty crap. I could have said it would be 2-1, 1-2 anyway with teams like that but last time they played it was nil-nil so yeah it isn’t really too obvious. The disallowed goal was potentially a swinger too as it could have easily been 2-2. Pity no details about who would score.

I’ve found a post on a magic forum talking about the prediction on the site at Sat Aug 29, 2009 9:05 pm – that’s the earliest record I can find via google… they do mention it has a prediction on it, but that could be the “nice little victory for Man U” prediction.
The only way to check the photo’s authenticity would be to have the original file from the camera, or visually recognise some aspect of it (people in the background?).
Here’s a thought… if you were going to predict a score, why have your photo taken at the match? Why not have it taken before the match? And is that a disguised Derren in the photo?

I did see the prediction before the match, although I’m not usually into football, but thought I’d take a look as my brother was going to watch and he loves Man U. Can’t remember the exact time that the prediction was up but it was probably between 4:30 and 5-ish I think.
I remember seeing the prediction site on the day of the match. My bf – he’s the Man U fan – came across it. And for the people here who are keen on details, I think it was around 5pm.
I found the score prediction site in the morning, and that photo was up when I checked about half an hour before kick-off. It’s definately taken at OT, and looks like pre-kick off (somewhere outside around the front of the megastore unless I’m mistaken) – you can see some of the match programme booths in the background, and the east coach park.
You can tell it’s pre-kick off as people are milling around taking photo’s. You wouldn’t get that many people stood around afterwards.

First Time Commenter – Had seen the add again last night and looked up the stucktoyoursofa.com site and boy was i stuck to the sofa, after reading blogs,forums,videos and all the prior mentioned sites I found myself still on the sofa totally engrossed at 06:30 this morning. If its just and advert its certainly done its job, however I would agree with the general opinion whether it be clues to what Derren has planned for the show, a mix up of previous shows or maybe to make us look deeper and hes hinting at something. It all reminds me of a competition on a social networking site that you could win a pair of trainers earlier this year in which clues were given and entrants had to work out the answer and enter it in the sites address bar then find and click something on the found page ……
…the competition had fake pages and the use of code searching came in very handy. In relation to the Derren advert it seems similar, yet no mention of a direct competition exists but what if you do as he says and “You know where to look” there could just be something there. I could just be rambling on and my paranoid conspiracy mind has taken over again Ha Ha Ha but i believe that there is more to it than just and advert and a tv show.

so far i have made notes of everything on this site that might have anything to do with it. my theory is that after last nights change to red and black text on adverts for the whole of big brother, ending after they reported “technical difficulties” (coincidence or are the difficulties derren taking over) during this week running up to the events, little subliminal messages will keep popping up.
ok ill share, i dug deep into the websites now on foward splash i researched the source code and found a code of numbers hidden in the source, now i copied to google and it seemed to convert it to text, it discovered to be a url to an audio file which is crazy it tells you the lotto numbers and alot of other weird kl things

Damnit! I knew I was slow again! I just looked in the source code and found that, copied it to google, then got the website then it told me the limit for downloads had been exceeded!

Yeah I got some ‘help’ and found the audio file but it says the download limit has been reached – which is pants. I found the weird numbers in the page source myself but had no idea what they were for until my ‘helper’ came along. I sat there for ages looking for a pattern in the bloomin’ sequence, duh! I just wanted to hear the numbers really as have an idea of what they are but wanted ‘confirmation’.
Also while I was trawling the blog a week or so ago I came across a post from DB saying he was in a casino in Manchester with the guy from ‘The Real Hustle’ filming for an upcoming series. Well that kinda ties in with The Events doesn’t it………….
so only ten people actually know what the message is on the audio file anybody fancy telling us all?

How come when you press “Set as background” on the background of “StuckToMySofa.com” (the part with all the mini derrens), the background is just red lines, and the derren heads dissapear (not very good with pc’s sorry).

@scott : that’s because the background is just made up of a number of those ‘red lines’. When you put them all together, they make the collage effect of all the derren heads – the background is lots of those lines next to each other – it’s not one big picture.
It should still work though if you want it as a background, you’d just need to set the bg.jpg to tile all over your background, it should work.

I have tried to access the audio file that appears in google when I paste in the numbers from the forward-splash source code and just get the following error message:

I had an enjoyable read of Wittgenstein tonight – thanks for that, Jordan! I even found a note of a joke about a man who wins the lottery after finding some numbers in the street, but can’t see how it relates to the Events. Maybe the moral is that you can always make out that you predicted the numbers correctly, even if you really didn’t have a clue.
Don’t leave the next clue tonight, eh? I’m doing a charity walk and I’ll miss the fun again.

The pic that Derren posted where he is on a bus with some children, are they all twins? It’s difficult to tell because it’s blurry and they are all laughing and smiling but the two little girls in the middle look like they have very similar hair and the other boys look alike but like I said it’s hard to tell becuse they aren’t straight to the camera. Could be non identical twins?
Just though as there has been lots of posts about twins, double, left and right sides etc. Also on the advert the woman with the long wavy hair and the man with briefcase appear twice. Presumed it was the smae people but could be twins?
Then again I might be clutching at straws.

Well, I’ve spent the whole morning plugging combos of the numbers on the Lottery Lamp Post into rapidshare under borderwrenn and I think I’m just about done in now. I figured the last .wav was a 9 digit number and there are 9 on the post. But nothing worked. I’m probably of on a wild goose chase, maybe it’s under another rendering of Derren’s malleable name? Maybe it’s a 6, not a 9, a 22 and not a 32. Dunno. But I’m off for a walk and a tub of frozen yogurt (green tea with pineapple, yummy) from Frais. I deserve a wee treat even if I will never be able to work it all out. Prob if I just sit patiently, it will all unfurl. But it has been fun working bits n bobs out and reading up on lots of the philosophy bits and bobs. It’s a whole nother career though and my brain hurts a tad.
I’m possibly massively behind the curve on this, and apologies if I am, but I was just forced to try and decipher the whole shebang today by my lady wife. On the reversed manchesterunited website, the crest has the motto ‘HIC LOCUS VERUS NON EST.’ Obviously the rough latin translation of that is ‘The truth is not here.’ but if you jumble it you can get ‘EVENTS’ with the remaining letter as ‘CUHCOSNSORIL’

The whole ‘green’ clue, I think it could relate to the 4th event, the roulette one?
Because apart from the lottery the only other event that uses numbers is this one, and in the advert it has two set of numbers, the lottery ones and the number 0 on the mans back.
If you bet on the number 0 in roulette it is green, not red or black, also you quadrouple your money, and everyone else who put money down gets they’re money back.
This one has something to do with members of the public right, so mabye he’s playing with their money.
Just a theory like, but I think it’s quite plausable.
I know what ol’ Dezzer is up to, It’s fucking plain and simple. He has figured out the lottery number with his immense brain power, stuck them on the lamp post but left one out because its the euromillions draw, the dream numbers will either be 7 9, or they will be something no body get. Thousands of people will buy Euro tickets after the wednesday one ends up being different numbers (which he will blatantly predict, amirite?) and the 85 million jackpot will be spread across the nation to all the people who identified the 5 numbers on high def streamed videos and it will pull the UK out of economic crisis. People debts will be payed, people can afford little luxuries, everyones happy. I know what my numbers are anyway

I have, but is it real? I know there’s been a religious theme for a while, but the witches stuff sounds a bit whacko. Read up on the saint etc and maybe it’s in-keeping with certain things; maybe Derren’s got some kind of Macbeth scenario in mind to film, or whether it’s all metaphorical or whatever? Dunno. I’m sure all those who were clever enough to collect the wav are sworn to secrecy. But, as I said, I dunno. I have the various combos of numbers though. They must be relevant for something, but maybe it’s not the lottery. I thought the diff colours would help us work out the units of 10 they belonged to, but they don’t help – unless I can’t see the difference in the reds/pinks v well?
Far too head-meltingly confusing for me i think its his plan though to build people up to a frenzy of misdirection and create alot of hype for his shows. CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!

I can’t help feeling we are all being tricked. Although I suppose that IS the point seeing as he’s an illusionist. Since predicting the lottery is actually impossible, there must be some sort of manipulation involved to get us to at least believe that he has. And it would be easier to control thousands of viewers seeing as he’s taken over an entire channel.
