All this NHS bashing makes me a sad panda.
Of course this news story has nothing to do with those corporations who own FOX News having invested interest in the Private Medical system in the US.
This is what will happen if you go public Obama…
The current news surrounding the NHS controversy makes me despair. THe main reason is the level of “debate” in this is infantile. Wherever I go, the same false dichotomy is being “discussed” (either in raised voices, or on twitter):
“Either you love the NHS as it is, in its current form, with NO question if it, not even suggesting possible ways of reform and imporivement OR you want NOTHING”.
Which is clearly wrong.
I’m a believer in a system of national insurance for all citizens; but at the same time there are areas I think the NHS can be improved. I told this to a friend of mine. He immeditatly reacted to this (reacted is the proper word; he cant hardly be said to have “thought” at all) that if I hated the NHS, why don’t I go private?

People who live under a National Health Service don’t realise how privileged the are. The only opposition to a system like this are people who have something to loose like insurance companies.

Jerry says the UK, a country with a population of nearly 60 million, employs half it’s doctors from other countries, implying a greater terrorist threat than… the US, with 305 million residents, who employ a quarter of it’s doctors from abroad. Now, who do they reckon has more foreign doctors…?

And FYI, this is fairly accurate, and from a time a couple of years ago when a supposed “doctor” from the “muslim world” WAS involved terrorist activity while working here in the UK.
