Well done to David G who sent in the first successful response to our hidden competition. David has won exclusive signed Derren Brown stuff including as yet unseen items. The best part is he doesn’t even know it yet.
Edit: There’s 4 more to come. Keep your eyes peeled for them. We will continue to drop more and more hints until you find each one. (The above IS real – you can do it with a print out or the real thing). Want proof – look back through the posts of last week, trailers, sites – hiding letters in blog posts, folding notes, hidden messages and you’ll see there are hints to each competition – keep talking and emailing (but not to say your confused or ask for more clues – some are bigger than others). Enjoy – Phillis & Abeo.

WTF!?!?!?
I didnt win!!?!?!?!?!?!
Are you sure its David G and not David B?
awww DERREN IS TENDER AND PRIVATE!
CONGRATS DAVID U LUCKY SOD!
Oo very good *applauds gleefully
CIA and 007 and Derren (tender and private?!) on one bank note
Yeah, thats fair.
Us Brits can’t get our hands on dollar bills that easy.
Great. But what does “THITE; TA’ A’ ICA” mean?
ah! I should have known! LOL! Congrats David!!
But the worst part is that I don’t know what the hidden competition was!
Also: quick Google search confirms that you can actually spell Derren with a one dollar note. Coincidence, I know – but still mighty freaky.
well done
Why did they fold the right hand side like that, so it says “for”? They could have folded it any way, including hiding that side or only showing the word “This”. Is there a reason do we think?
@Lewis I’m actually British!
Didn’t even realise there was a competition. My brain hurts.
wtf is happening! getting really confused!
PS.That’snothing really. Our £10 notes can be folded to say “Ken Land” and then, underneath, “ponds”. Ponds, right next to Darwin himself. Which note is superior now eh?
I don’t get it! What is so special about ‘TENDER AND PRIVATE’ that makes it the winning image
I think I totally missed something here…..:(
But congrats David G, well done!!
LC x
hey! are youse brits planning on taking over the U.S. again? is that why yer hiding british subjects’ names in OUR money?? is this all part of the New World Order conspiracy???
ya say ya wanna revolution…
well done david g
i like how it says “tender and private” underneath. awww, is that true derren?
I dont get it??? What / where was the hidden competition????
I’m all confused!!
So, anyone care to explain to us mere mortals what the competition was about, please? :p Or is it one of those future backwards things, as it seems that David G doesn’t know he won yet. Hmm… maybe the competition didn’t even happen yet… It would be funny if that were true.
I thought all those backwards, noitceridsiM, and hidden messages were over now that the trailer was out; apparently not – and I love it!
@billk2: The Highest In Theatrical Entertainment; Terribly Attractive, And Ingenius Con Artist.
Er…obviously…
How does he not know it yet?
Does anybody know if this guy is really smart or just really lucky?
I’m not sure what the hidden competition was, what the answer to the hidden comp was, how you’d know where to submit the hidden answer to a hidden competition, or where I live any more.
Ha Ha! CONGRATS David! whooohooo!
Congratulations David *much appalause Stewie style*
SonofSam83- that made me laugh
x
*applause
I’ve not told him! – Phillis
It was hidden like the last one. There’s more! Keep an eye out for them. – PD
I love hunting out the little clues etc but rubbish at putting them together. Good luck everyone
x
I finally found out what object he chose out of the 150 but where do I post the answer?
Thanks everyone.
For the record I had no idea this was a competition, it was one of those (subliminally implanted?) “ah ha!” moments, and I thought that the DB and the crew would get a chuckle out of it.
@Rob I think this confirms that I’m really smart AND really lucky :p
And the best part is I still don’t even know it yet. What?
It an anagram for Derren I ate that cat I am sure.
Sadly my full time job seems to interfere with far more important things like competitions
Just noticed the 007 on the folded note too. lol. Licence to thrill and all that
x
So anyone care to share what the hidden question was? The only words I saw were ROTOR and ummm another one but I forget now.
Where all the words part of a sentence or random clues?
Phillis! Why do you have to nerd-bait me with tantalizing puzzles to solve while I should be studying for exams?
Haha well I’m definitely not clever enough to win anything this time. Gratz though David.
the answer was so straight forward it was nearly backwards. im surprised you didnt see it.
4 more to come? So this was the first & only one so far, right?
WTF????!!!
I demand an explanation. Just because I am not as smart as David it is not fair to keep me here in the dark. I MUST know damn it. I am a woman, I am curious – I CAN’T HAVE IT PHILLIS!!!
Tell us plz … what was hidden where, whas there a question and if so the answer was??? Arghhhhh…….
This is all so cryptic. =.=
In the future, i’ve won the next competition, except I don’t know it yet, or what its even about, and neither do you. You however, will tell me i’ve won without knowing it, even though I never entered. Then i’ll know i’ve won without knowing I have, so effectively I won’t know that i’ve won and neither with you.
So I won’t recieve any prizes.
Thus rendering this all entirely pointless.
Ain’t time wasting fun?
I swear, I’m going to go insane. I actually decided not to go on the computer all day so I wouldn’t be glued to it for hours looking for an answer when I don’t even know what the puzzle is. And then I check and: Hidden Competition! My willpower has caved. Congrats David.
I have a theory about the Events: If you read the text it says something about being distracted when looking at the big screen and also mentions 09/09/09 so I reckon something will be on the big screen at United on that day…The text alludes to being stuck on the sofa unable to move so I would suggest that the subliminal message will somehow direct that ….
May be completely wide of the mark though!
Ah Andrew, on the website, it says, “Ian Ducee discusses is undergoing extensive drug testing after he froze on the pitch in last night\’s match. Early reports state that he felt \”stuck to the spot\” as the hypnotised after glancing at the big screen.”
If the competition iswhat I think it is then it’s unbelievably simple and I’m kicking myself for not noticing it sooner
Yeah – everyone in the UK will be stuck on their sofas, so Derren and his crew can only walk in to get those crown jewerelys.
Oi Philis! Have you already reserved those tickets to Cayman Ilands for your soon becoming retirement days?
An answer without a question is like a world without light. *philosophical!*
I bet there is no hidden competition whatsoever. Also there is no meaning in all the anagrams, folded bills, capital letters and strange blog posts about photographs posing as paintings. It’s just a part of clever and funny marketing strategy meant to warm us up before 09/09/09. Or maybe it should even distract us, misdirect our attention and prevent us from seeing something else, just as in the ingenious “Color changing card trick” video by prof Wiseman.
what happens if you only have a single little crate to sit on in the pivacy of your warehouse? will it work then?
cheers
rob
youse just wanna get yer hands on our money to get all that coke off it!
Hmm, a competition so secret that the winner doesn’t know he’s entered, excellent. I wonder if my folding of a £5 note to look like one of Skinner’s pigeons will get me anywhere…
Cheers,
Tony
@rev What is interesting to me is that in some ways you are completely right, in my opinion, and it doesn’t matter.
Of course there’s all kinds of misdirection and building interest in The Events going on. Of course there isn’t really any meaning in a folded bill, etc.
If you ask me, that’s sort of the point. The reason I thought, “I bet I could fold a bill so it spells out Derren Brown or something,” was because there is no meaning in the other foldings. I sent it in because the result made me chuckle and I thought the DB crew would like it.
So, either it waS a hidden competiTioN, or the crEw thought it was Very cool and dEcided to reward me anyway, the end result is the same either way: look for hidden things on the blog, and send in interEsting stuff–you migH geT…
…rewarded. (Oh for a few extra letters, what is this Twitter?)
Nothing happened at 01:45 this morning.
I was awake…
I would of noticed
omg omg omg. i get it.
Ian Ducee = audience. its an anagram.
The more posts I’m reading here the more confused I’m getting…..
LC x
VerY cLeveR david G.( im still confused though!!!!!!)
What I do if I think I know know an answer to a hidden comp!! Where do I send it?
phillisdorris@derrenbrownart.com
Fun fact:
If you blow up the picture of a dollar bill enough, you can see a tiny owl near the top left, obviously there\’s a reason; which I wont go into here..
