On Saturday night I saw old classrooms turned into bedrooms, studies, forests, and gardens. The completeness of the world they created was absolutely amazing. After the show we heard people talking about many scenes we'd missed because it was self-directed. So we went back again Sunday. This time we knew to follow the actors - we ran (literally) all over this behemoth place and saw an incredibly physical, skilled, intimate, raw perfomance. I adored it beyond my capacity to communicate. A hundred thousand thanks to Derren for the suggestion! It wasn't theatre, it was an art installation and, I've kind of seen it all before. Really soz. I so admire what they are trying to achieve, but there are a lot of clichés in their work; the sex peep show stuff etc (yawn) and they haven't taken things far enough for me. Where was the drama in Tunnel 228? Beautiful vistas etc, yeh, fragments. For something on that scale, it needed more. Merely scale is not enough. I was going to do a guerrilla performance and kidnap one of the under-workers and set her free, but when I questioned some of the actors, they didn't respond in character and didn't seem to know what they were doing, so I didn't want to freak anyone out.
