The people who went around thinking “OMG GUISE WE CAN CHANGE TEH WORLD” are the ones missing the point, and the ones who missed the point from the off. It was never about changing the world, or even helping anyone. It was, as everything to do with anonymous is, for the lulz, amusement and for shits and giggles. It stopping being funny after people starting taking it seriously and started trying to be credible.

Thanks for the link to this. My spouse, a hacker, was unable to clearly explain the 4chan/anon/I haz cheezburger (he owns a T-shirt with stuff written that way on it) connections.
The Cruise video I hadn’t seen before. I feel so sorry for him. He’s so trapped in it. At the same time, he sounds like people caught in other religions too.
Overall, the take-down of CoS will have to come from a more thoughtful place.
