Or it was TV specials of the stage shows that I’ve done. I wanted to do something a bit different for this series, to come up with something fresh. I think there’ll be quite a wide range of responses. I’m sort of experimenting with mass influence and suggestion in the current live show that I’m doing, and this idea came from that work. It’s perfectly safe, though. People will be able to call into the show – we’ll be telling people to keep their phones within reach – and I’ll be talking to some of those people during the show, so I’ll be able to find out how viewers have reacted.”

I am looking forward to friday, I hope this works on me but I dont think it will. I am strong willed and i understand the basics of what Derren does, which means subconciously and conciously i will be looking out for his suggestions, wether it is hand movements, words or phrases that he says. When i watch him i always see how he is controling the person.
None the less I am excited about the show and his up coming events.
I should be ashamed for showing so little faith but can\’t imagine that I\’d end up stuck to my sofa… we shall see!

As soon as the video starts to play, Derren will freeze time. He’ll then make his way, locksmith styles, into every home in the UK and apply glue to our seats. Stuff about Derren Brown’s 2nd event which is being shown live on British TV on Friday night. I think Derren might have chosen the end of the week, namely late on Friday night as a ploy to help him in his effort to control the Nation.
As most people would have worked all week usually from Monday to Friday. So the British working Nation, would naturally be tried after working all week. Plus if they are off work during the weekend. They will have switched off from work mode.
And by late Friday night they would already have turned into relaxing during the time when Derren’s program would be aired on TV.
So I think the naturally tried, working Nation, would be more likely to be influenced by Derren in his attempt to control the Nation, At a certain point in the program Derren will attempt to make the watching Nation, “stay sitting down in their chairs”.
At this point in their working week, the naturally tried viewers are watching TV to relax. So the viewer’s mussels will be in rest mode ready for a relaxing weekend. This is why the viewer’s would be more likely to be influenced by Derren. Because their motivation is to relax and look forward to the weekend. Its all good stuff though, well done, Derren.

My aunt and uncle recently went on holiday to San Francisco, and came home about two days after the reveal show on Friday. I watched the ad for this show on 4OD following the lottery prediction thing on Saturday cos I missed it Friday. I COULD NOT move off the sofa for fifteen minutes. My BF thought I was messing around because he’d watched the same time and nothing happened to him (but he thinks Derren is just a fraudster and that I’m gullible anyway – I can’t seem to make him understand that Derren admits to being a certain type of fraudster effectively, and that is the whole point! It doesn’t detract from the psychological techniques that he uses, but anyway…) but I actually started to get quite freaked out because I couldn’t move for ages, and I thought this wasn’t supposed to happen until the actual show?! I’ve just noticed it happened to someone else on here as well, so I’m glad it wasn’t just me!

It’s strange, I don’t want to watch it (mainly cos I don’t trust what he can do through the subconcious) but I think he already has me persuaded. Why did Derren say there were no visual subliminal messages. Twice there were interruptions of a fraction of a second whilst he was talking and a white screen with something in the middle ehich i couldn’t identify flashed up. Did eveyone notice that?

Well it worked on me.. My partner was in the room and she quickly got up, I sat through the whole of the ads, and waited for further instructions as he said. At the end, as I tried to get up, I got a way and thought “I can fight this” then something popped into my head that I didn’t want to. I’m guessing it’s from what he said about the choice you’ll get. Anyway, I stopped trying and relaxed, then 10 seconds later I was done. My lower back was glued to the cushion, my arms were very heavy, and I struggled to even lean forward when that popped up on the screen. Then my partner asked if I could move my legs, I said yes, but alas I couldn’t. Mus admit I started to get a bit worried then. Was very relieved when I finally got up. Wishing I had been able to call in now though.

I didnt get stuck but i really wanted to, my arms felt heavy drawn into my body!
BUT i think there was a reason for that…. i kept seein an image on the screen it was a white background with a man sitting tied to a chair like a sketch from a side view
these images were played b4 the video and other things popped up on my screen during the whole programme maybe i was too aware of them and thats why i didnt work fully?
my arms are aching from straining though i have to say!

Amazing, I was stuck for 3 or 4 minutes. Although I’m the only person I know who was stuck.
didn’t work for me, managed to get the sky plus hd paused on the flashing message. it was a picture of a guy in and old fashion suit sitting on a stool with his legs tied and ropes around his chest and holding on tightly to the base of the stool.

I did not belive it would happen, but it did and I was totally stuck. I could only move my head about 2 inches away from the back of the chair. I could not move my legs or feet. My hands had raised about one and a half in away from my legs and hands were spread wide open span. it was really werid. was not until after when Darren said about the deep breathing after that I started to move again. Must admit there was a picture flashing up on the screen, which was a picture of a man tied on a chair. So wheather that has something to do with it or not I am not sure. I really did not believe this would have happened but it did. Well done Darren you got me!!!!
I’m both terrified and amazed – terrified that my mind can be controlled so easily and amazed that he properly managed to stick me to my seat. Fascinating that PWA works so effectively, I’m really interested in finding out more about how it works now.
Only negative point is that my arms are sore from trying to push myself up!!

did u notice the picture b4 u paused it on Sky i dont have sky and it was sooo clear on my screen i think thats why i didnt work, everyone else seems to have noticed like the screen skip or somethin but i saw the whole image.
It worked on me, totally stuck.
I wish it had worked as well on my two friends who were present. One was half way and the other was totally fine.

i tried it, i didn’t get stuck but i became really cold in a split second, anyone else experience this?
i got pins and needles in both legs.
however i have some ideas on how he did it.
there were not subliminal flashes during the film, but there were flashes of someone sitting down both before and after the film.
I also think that the use of white noise in the backing track of the film had a part in disorientating the audience and enabling them to focus only on the film and believe that they were stuck

Yeah, feet got stuck. But then have had hypnotherapy before and went so far under I couldn’t swallow and panicked. Feet well welded, looked like a wobbly tree. Very funny and very clever, it is really all suggestion, and it was so simple. Well done getting past the censors Derren! Loved it.

Oh my god, i got stuck both times!! Managed to relax within about a minute or two after the first one and got up with relative ease, but got absolutely freaked out after the second one! i kept trying really hard to get up and just couldnt!! i was stuck for like 5 minutes!! i had to wait for the instructions! wow!! im blown away!!

I really struggle to understand this?….It didn’t actually stick me to the chair but it did make me feel a little strange, kinda ‘heavy’. I’m not sure whether its because I really wanted it to work tho? For me, the pictures of the man in the chair that flashed up briefly can’t have an effect….it was just to obvious and lets face it there were loads of people sat in chairs during the build up. I actually found the earlier bits of the programme more facinating….like how that girl missed the fella with the ‘lose’ t-shirt????? Whatever people say about him, Derren’s very entertaining !!!

My mum got stuck, and when we watched the clip on plus one to see if I could do it she got stuck again!
Both times my fingers twitched and my leg was twitching too but I never got stuck.
I moulded her hands into V signs and she stayed like that for about ten minutes.
I could see there was a picture in the lines but whenever I tried to make it out it went away.
It was probably someone on their seat like the one that flashed up.

Didn’t get stuck sadly.
However, my knees did become terribly weak and the bottom of my legs felt quite tingly. Kind of like the feeling you have just before you faint.

oh my god i done it and didnt realise there was a big spider just above me on the wall! I must mention that i have a major fear of spiders! my sister decided to point it out when my bum and legs and feet were all stuck!! strangest feeling ever and i felt really really sick afterwards!

The flash image was like a scene in “fight club”, when the picture of a co-ck flashes up. But instead, it was a picture of a man tied to his chair.
I noticed it instantly. I’m too sharp for all that, I can’t help but think it is the weak of mind who it works on.

i watch all 4 shows now on 4+ and each time i have tryed diffent chairs didnt lights watch the whole thing sat in that weird postion but still didnt work i even sat infront of a 40inch hd sky hd tv on a 200 pound gaming chair and nothing

Really enjoyed the show. So entertaining. My experience of the show was probably shrouded with complete scepticism, I’m one of these people who doesn’t really believe the hype. After all, it’s TV… how limited are producers on what they can and can’t put on TV? However, saying that, I was glued to my seat for a hour. For me though, the minute video didn’t work. I guess it’s down to the individual. I noticed the flash images throughout and had also been drinking wine – maybe that spoiled it.
BUT… the best part was the blue screen!!! Did anyone else feel totally happy watching that? I was giggling like a little girl, just seemed the most serene and calming effect ever. Was absolutely brilliant, and for some reason I stopped feeling so heavy and tired (long day). Anyone else feel this?
So some of you got stuck then? Are you sure, or do you just want to believe? I’m all for hypnosis and stunts like this, but honestly, could you really fall under in a couple of minutes like that? For what my opinion is worth I don’t think anyone could have honestly been affected in conditions Derren is unable to control, like in our own living rooms. And what was that film all about? Did it really take months to devise a few rotating lines with the odd flash of what looked like someone seated in a chair? Be real please and be honest with yourselves, you stuck because you wanted to. Can’t wait for the News of the World tomorrow, I bet there’s people saying they’re still stuck, I might phone in work on Monday, tell ‘em I can’t come in cos I’m stuck to the chair. Try harder Derren please!

I was really open to the whole thing and it worked, I was completely stuck to my chair, couldn’t even move my arms, the more energy I put into moving the more it seemed to drain away. The only sensation I can relate it to is when I broke my arm and my hand was all weak and strange.
Basic hypnotherapy, with some weighted sentences such as ‘if you are intelligent, it is more likely to work’
thrown in The flashes WERE supposed to be seen, the ‘visual effects’ merely a distraction, and at the end of a friday night at work, after sitting in a sofa for nearly 55 minutes before the actual illusion takes place- of course you will be reluctant to get up
The same concept is used at dentists when you have happy gas, and to aId sleeping. Simply focus on your heavy SLOW…..SLOW breathing ….imagine a tingly sensation rising slowly in your feet, feel them getting heavy, and continue this will the rest of the body- when you get to your head imagine it is floating like a cloud, and the rest of the body is lead- you fall asleep in minute

You know what ? everybody focused on the video that he said will play, but anybody notice that him already was controlling every single person thats was watching the programme since he was telling the instructions or maybe since the programe starts. I saw one picture flashing quikly of a person tied on a chair, while he was tell the instructions . Even me he controled coz I didn’t move till he started talk with the volunteers. I wasn’t stuck on my sofa but I spent few seconds to come back for a realxed position. This guy is my idol. Sorry everyone my bad english skill.

Out of a large group of mates I was the only one that stuck. My heart was racing and I was apparantely shoutin loudly as I panicked. Weird but fun. Mates thought I faked it til they felt my heart thumping. Was totaly sober too! X

If anyone was listening during the show, he said it will not work on low resolution screens. E.g, computers. He specifically said that it will not work on computers, and it will only work on TVs. That may be why some people didn’t get stuck. It might depend on what TV you have. Higher resolution, better chance of getting stuck.

I watched this last night with my boyfriend (we couldn’t watch it on Friday because we both had to work) and OMG I cant believe I got stuck. It totally freaked me out. Every time I tried to push up I burst into tears. I don’t know why! I didn’t feel scared. There was just this wave of emotion weighing down on me every time I tried to get up. My fella didn’t get stuck – he just stood there videoing me as I freaked out! lol.
Did anyone else get tingling feelings in there limbs? I have pulled a muscle in my wrist after all the pushing down I did! haha. I’m really looking forward to the next one now!

Finally got around to watching it. Didn’t work in the slightest for me.
Also, did anyone notice that the girl in the yellow shirt in the audience who claimed not to be able to move her arms at all quite happily raised her left hand & touched her face while Derren was interviewing the person in front of her? Moments later she “claimed” she was stuck fast & wasnot to be able to move her arms off the chair other than to wiggle her fingers.
