I’ll be on holiday and unable to watch this Wednesday & Friday. I took what I thought was your hint last Friday and bought my ticket then. 5 numbers seemed clear and one I wasn’t sure about. I see Derren is having trouble buying the lottery ticket, I have just posted an idea on my blog where he could ask a member of the public to buy the ticket on his behalf or make some kind of deal with that person which compares to methods used by the mafia back in the day.
If the lottery is really a system then I will be watching very closely on Wednesday.
I know for a fact that lottery in other countries like Thailand are controlled by the government to keep the money within the rich community, in the history of lottery winnings over there not a single poor person has won it.
And if it was reported that the person was poor, then look at the idea on my blog as this method is used a lot of times for different things.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t a variant on the old wires scam made famous by the film The Sting. the lottery results aren’t broadcast exactly live. they have to go up on a satellite before being distributed on the tv transmitters. All Derren has to do is get the signal a few seconds before you do to have appeared to “predict” the results.
PS I am amazed at the number of people saying Good Luck. Surely one of Derren’s life goals is to show that there is no such thing
Ok silly question number one. What time does the ACTUAL draw take place? I am not talking the broadcast time, i mean the time the balls one by one fall from the machine with the independant witness taking the notes?

Although the principle (if not the method or technology) of the explanation is presumably simples and in fact potentially rather obvious the explanation programme has quite a few interesting topics to explore – I see a Derren visit to a certain kind of bookies that are equiped with computer terminals coming on……..

AFAIK the lottery results show is recorded and goes out… can you confirm you will be live (by some sort of proof) and that the lottery results have not been released…

The “Jonathan Creek method” was the TV screen was on a few seconds delay, just enough time for someone planted, to tell the magician what the numbers were by transmitting a code or something through as a pulse using morse code and a microphone or something to that effect.
SGC: I can do 2 balls in one hand and 3 balls in 2 hands no problem… but chuck another ball in and I’m hopeless. We must find out the secret to his success!

His show is on at the same time as the draw, its obvious that he will simply be getting the feed from the lottery studio momentarily before us and announcing the balls thus. Theres nothing special about it and its in no way a “prediction”. If you really want to PREDICT the balls Derren…have your show on Tuesday night instead of at the same time as the draw and announce the balls then. Typical charlatan media hyping for viewing figures.

Okay everyone, its getting close now, crunch time to play or not … why are the lotto balls in the advert the wrong colours? Surely with all the planning and research that goes into a stunt like this they would have got this right? No draw has those colours for those numbers. If its a code rather than exact numbers then its too obscure to be impressive for the reveal in my opinion. Want to place bets but this litterally feels like Derren shouting ALL IS NOT RIGHT WITH THE 5 NUMBERS! Is it another tactic to reaffirm peoples automatic reaction to the stunt ie. its a con… suspect this may be a double bluff, I say ignore it and believe, I think half the poeple will bottle it when it comes to parting with even a quid, despite the fact they have as much chance as a lucky dip anyway.

My guess that the Manchester Travel Lodge will be at G-mex (on account of the back-up is Deansgate). This is just a GUESS, however… DO NOT hold me responsible if you end up missing the show – I’ve already told you that it’s not a cert.

Let me guess… First, there is no way that you can predict the numbers on forehand. You cannot predict them, it’s impossible. The same you can’t predict 5 numbers i’m going to throw with a dice at this very moment. So there’s something else. I guess he gets the numbers just a little moment before they will be broadcasted. Someone will write those numbers in a letter that will be in an envelope or something like that. It will seem that the numbers are already in there the whole time, but they are just made after the numbers will be announced. Too bad i can’t watch because i live in the Netherlands.
Of course, Friday he will give another explanation, that sounds acceptable to some people, but it’s a method that will never work. He does this in real life shows too. To mislead you
tonight will be disappointing
he will stumble across 2 numbers probably, maybe the bonus ball only……
people will talk about him being a w@nker etc over the next couple of days and how his career is over blah blah
in true showman style though….
the twist will come on friday at the explanation show
he will mumble through various theories about this and that and why it went wrong
the audience will be left aghast at the end of the show though with him and a lottery ticket showing 6 winning numbers from the Wednesday draw

I don´t know if derren had a good idea this time,particularly after all this expectation.
On the show,if he really tries to predict he will fail,taking maybe 2 or 3 numbers.
If he gets all numbers,it will be by a time delay or by writing them on paper and revealing after the draw.
A lot of disappointment is possible for spectators of this event.

First:you didn´t predict the numbers,but only revealed them AFTER the draw,exactly as i was saying in my previous comments.
Second:I already figured out how you did it.
Not all the details,but the main principles of your trick.
The main part is the glass tube below the balls stand,that you made appear transparent probably through some mirroring techniques.
The diameter of that tube clearly is big enough to let balls go through it and reach the stand.
In some way you were able to control the balls to go through the tube when you had your hand over the mouth during the whole draw procedure.
A year needed to prepare this trick?
Maybe just a few weeks.
