Can I set people straight on this ... The original spelling - and the one cited in the OED - is hypnotiZe as this comes from the original Greek via Latin. In fact this spelling was the predominant one in britain until the mid 1940s with the -ise variant in the minority until then. The -ise ending is believed to come from the adoption of french-style (Anglo-Norman) spellings by the aristocracy to make them look posh. (This is not true of all -ize/-se words as some come from a Latin root that does have the 's'. The common example being "compromise" from the latin "-misser".) Ed. My girlfriend called her and she said she's been getting lots of calls since last night. Wonder if the number is going to remain in the ad all week? Random unexplained phone calls day and night? I drew my concentric circles pretty much at the start...blown away. I did notice ads, also at different bits in show, circles were in background..patterrning on the floors etc. I was looking for the subliminal and it was there. What I wouldn't give to be stuck in a lift for 20 minutes with Derren! Calm down :) I only want to stop smoking. Wow, Derren was amazing on the show last night (as always).
