People are “hard wired” to respond more strongly to negative stimulus than positive stimulus. It has its routes in alerting us to threatening situations. People don’t really have a hard time looking at their lives in a mostly positive light though. People generally remember positive life events more so than negative life events unless they suffer from something like depression.

One thing I do remember reading however, is that extroverted people respond better to reward than punishment whilst it is the other way around for introverts. If true, this would have some interesting implications. Do extroverts forget bad things sooner for instance? Or would extremes of these groups (Introvert/extrovert) respond more readily or less readily to subliminal messages?

Probably not for all people. The depressed deep down inside is also what is most closest to a lot of us, unfortunately .. depressed stuff bonds people. I myself dont wonder whether negative images stick better to the brain, it's more whether hjow they test that. Images/words you don't see from full conscious (but with that vague side system then apparently (so there must be other very interesting stuff showen then .. otherwise it might be the messages that trigger the most attention anyhow). Negative emotions seem to stick indeed the longest. But what is negative huh? We dont have the same opinion about a lot of stuff, nor our subconscious.

Where are the clips here with subliminal messages. I myself think we see them way too much perhaps .. we dont even buy them anymore (commercials).

ya know, i have wondered fer years why negativity seems to be our natural state of mind, but a positive 'tude has to be worked at. (sorry fer that awful passive voice, not quite awake yet.)

anybody got any theories on this?
