Anyways I hope we get to see this footage at the end of The Events as a climax.

@nopke – the snowflake was held up by Derren in the promo’s before the event. The snowflake links to the xmas decorations in the film clip. If you search though this blog, you’ll find the post when he was on said bus last year, saying something about how it will “hopefully pay off sometime next year…”

Given the snowflake was used in the promo’s and Derren mentioned the bus thing in the blog earlier before the event, the plan was clearly to include this footage, but this was changed for reasons unknown before it was aired.

So hang on, Derren had a prediction set out already, from last year… and he arranged a massive media hype because he ‘knew’ it would come up on the 9th of September… how?… we don’t know that there isn’t similar footage of 43 other kids picking all the numbers, similar to ‘the system’
I can’t help but think that it has been blown up to something so big, that knowing the simple truth behind it would be crushing… perhaps the snowflake is another misdirection, to keep the mystery alive. either way he’s a bit clever that bloke!

@Pim: if Derren knew the numbers back in November he must have fixed the lottery draw, in which case he would have got into even more trouble if he or any of the team had bought a ticket. IMO that’s why nobody won.

I’m shocked how much people are talking about this! (snowflake & lotto predict) Its very easy to work out how it was done through simple logic. And the snowflake has a duel meaning, firstly it is a misdirection by derren and secondly well i wouldnt want to spoil every1s fun.

Ooooo, its all starting to make sense now… thats what the missing footage is, thats what the kiddies on the bus were for… I agree with the others though, surely this has not been cut due to time constraints as it was clearly in the recording the day before the friday event…. methinks this shows that the machine was rigged, and thus it cant be shown due to the likelyhood of being sued.

….or hopefully it will be in the climax at the end.

I think its clear to me that it was option 3 that he used to “predict” the balls. After all he did say he would mention the truth in the show, and he did just that (even if he constantly denied it for the tv audience)

Maybe.. the mis-direction is that all of you are thinking too deep into this, and totally missing the point.. The point being that he can manipulate people into choosing random numbers that match what he chose last year. Ever thought of that? He is very good at mind games, so maybe he planted the predictions into the 24′s minds to look like they came up with the numbers, where in fact he predicted them under a year earlier..

I’m guessing he is demonstrating his abilities for manipulating the public.. which would explain the different sub-events in his show “The Event”, and when it comes to the showdown he would need us to remember what he has shown us – and somehow pieces them alltogether to perform one massive experiment…

I dont know if this is intentional to throw off the visitors or just lazy vocabulary, but you never know.. maybe it could hold a message to the fans if someone could crack it.

Did anyone watch David Blaine after Derren’s Friday night show? He essentially predicted the lottery numbers three times, proving that somehow, it can be done! I am almost 100% sure that Derren wouldn’t resort to a camera trick – it would destroy his reputation. I think we all just need to be a little more patient…

Presumably the footage was dropped because it would completely undermine the “explanation” given during the show (all that ‘deep maths’ nonsense). It would also have definitely pointed to a rigging of the lottery and I’d assume they cut the footage for legal reasons. Why would they cut it for time, when it sounds far more intriguing then the slightly dull and unbelievable reasons given in the show itself?

okay its patently obvious that no one actually knows what Derren did, all these theories are pretty much clutching at straws. we cant work out in the space of a few days what it has clearly taken him years to perfect, and this lottery prediction is an extension of that. personally i think not knowing is part of what makes it so much fun… you can bake your noodle over it for hours and still be non plussed. whatever he’s done, be it predicting the numbers last year or this, wether its been done by one of the methods described in last weeks show or not, the fact that so many people are talking about it, and are prepared to entertain the fact its really been done, that is part of what makes it amazing.

Thank you for this explanation. I wondered when the photo of DB and the children on the bus would be referred to during the events. I am more willing to accept this link between the photo and the trail than split screens, false walls and chromakey nonsense that has proliferated in the last week.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that the six-sided snowflake indicates a ‘six balled snowjob’…(and may be helpful in working on the subliminal commands for frozen/stuck to your sofa’). Maybe we’ll get the ‘real’ story someday, but for now I’m tending to doubt it. But that’s okay, the whole thing’s been highly entertaining anyway and a first-rate show from DB…as always.

I was pretty certain that it was a camera trick because of the jumping ball (pretty strong evidence towards a split screen trick right?) but reading into this has totally confused me. The christmas footage would pretty much prove the rigged machine method, which is why it wasn’t aired I’m guessing (rigging the lottery is a probably a serious business) so I’m clinging on to the hope that it really does exist. Camera tricks don’t really seem your style and rigging the lottery is a lot more badass. Still, whatever you did, you’ve got everyone thinking and thats what its all about.
