Well.. I wish Derren ‘plenty of luck’ in his quest tonight. But, what I really like is how he (and his team) are using plenty of technology and media, such as large projections and different event venues.

I could duplicate the same effect using Sportvision’s “1st and 10 Line” technology which virtually puts the numbers on blank white balls.

If the solution is technical, “Optical Glyph Tracking” could do this trick.
The balls have symbols (glyphs) – recognized by the computer handling the broadcasting.
For the glyph on ball #1 they punch in the correct number (2 I think), and etc for the rest.
The video system then shows a correct computer generated number instead of the glyph.
To create a diversion and make us think less of CGI and greenscreen technology – they use a hand held camera.
I don’t know if this is THE way – but this is A way to accomplish this.
