Back home now, 3 am. The post that was here at 10.10 was put up in my absence - I’ve edited it now I’m back.
The Events are now over and I want to thank everyone who tuned in over the last few weeks. Along the way, 20m viewers tuned in – far more than any of us ever imagined – and I hope most of you enjoyed the shows. It’s been a real ride: I’ve had loads of fun making them, though I’m still reeling from tonight’s escapade. I called Ben as soon as I could and he doesn’t hate me, so I can sleep tonight.
I’ll be back on C4 in two months’ time as part of 3D Week in November. You’ll all be able to revel in the glory of me in 3D by collecting your special 3D specs from Sainsburys stores around November time. Enjoy.

You don’t put that much effort into something like this only for it to not work as intended. Of course he wanted to miss by 1, that was the whole idea. The whole show was designed to draw you in, to make you feel as if it was your money on the table and that after all that work, and what he’d done before, there was no way that Derren could get it wrong.
And then the sucker punch. He does get it wrong. A nice touch with the cheque ready outside of the van. It’s the perfect illustration of how a gambler feels – how they think they can beat the system, only for reality (and probability) to bring you crashing back to Earth.
I bought it, he had me convinced he’d nail it.
I agree with @Danny. Surely just a ploy to make some people wonder if actually it was all real. Some really excellent stuff in this series, but in my opinion the weakest one hes done overall (bit like the Enigma live show actually – really great, but not up to usual standard)

We’ve all really enjoyed playing along with the Events and think you’re splendid. I don’t want to patronise you, but I also felt like a proud mum when you announced the ‘Science Behind Scams’ programme; I think it’s admirable that we watched you appear as an enterntainer years ago, but can now use your reputation and credibility to encourage and incite the age of reason. Bless you, dear. I imagine that the unerring Prof. Dawkins is probably proud of you too ; )

I am utterly convinced being one off was part of his master plan! Derren Brown is never wrong – maybe the casino wouldn’t allow it if he got it right – keep your eyes peeled the next few weeks
A great set of shows, thanks Derren. Gutting to be one out, but wow, that was close!
But it does show he can beat the roulette. He placed a single bet on 1 number to show the maximum potential of his skills, whereas if he had quickly placed another 2 bets on neighbouring numbers corresponding to the number he picked he would of won, but not quite as much. Still a very healthy profit would of been made! Picking just 1 number makes for good tv, i believe he could easily make huge profits from the skills he uses by simple doing neighbouring bets. No wonder he was ‘somewhere in Europe’ and not in the UK where he would be recognised and booted out straight away.
Friday nights won’t be the same. I am really sad that this is it now. For us it was a family event to sit down and watch The Events. Great shows that we thoughroughly enjoyed. No matter how you do it… it is brilliant entertainment ! I am looking forward to future events.

This has happened before. In ‘Mind Control 4: Episode 5′ he is allowed into a casino, wins about 4k on blackjack then at the end of the episode bets it all on 22 and it lands on the number next to it (18).
I enjoyed it anyway and look forward to the next big thing.

I reckoned there would be a twist at the end and Derren would come out and say … ha ha fooled you all and here is the surprise ending!!
But seeing the guy with the big cheque at the end makes me think that it wasn’t planned to end that way.
In these credit crunch times … I reckon a few folks would be thinking … if this bloke has 5 grand spare to lift from the bank, then why does he deserve to win 175 grand!

To the bitter man who works for the Sun (…and I’m terribly sorry things aren’t working out for you), who cares if it is all a scam ? Derren said in his own trailers that there would be 4 mis-direction events, so haven’t you already been told that it’s unlikely to be total truth you’re watching ? The fact is that this series has been one of the few entertainment events / reasons to switch on the telly that aren’t soaps this year. The medium needs men of his ilk.
To Derren – an incredible ending, far better to end 1 away than with a happy ending in my opinion.

I haven’t seen a darn thing last 4 friday nights but it sounds like fun for sure. We missed all of that here.
We survived, sort of, and are now 4 weeks ahead of all the others that did have something to look forward to on their friday., and now not anymore.
I myself bought 2 new birds, from which one only has one leg (sad story).
Twitter … hm … it is a bit one way traffic, isn’t it … I dont know who those people are … the names are confusing, their texts at times too. What are you talking about and to who????? That’s what I sometimes wonder about. But imagine if all followers could respond …. my oh my … ehehehe …. I’d be the most obnoxious one I guess, or one of them.
Intentionally wrong? I think so, it would have been all too ‘daisy’ if he had succeeded ‘again’…
However by intentionally failing, it allows the public to think, “wow, he was one off, it must be genuinely possible to calculate the trajectory and speed of a roulette ball” etc.
Moreover, if he succeeded in every event, then the public opinion would naturally be that “ah there’s a trick/scam behind all this”…but we’re more likely to believe he actually beat the ‘systems’ if he were to ‘fall at a hurdle’.
Or of course Derren Brown knew we’d be thinking like this if he flopped – thus his credibility would be saved. Lets say there was a glitch in his ‘system’, then he knew he could fall back on the publics opinion of saying “he failed by purpose” etc.
Nevertheless – a great “entertainer”
tbh i think derren set this one up in a sense, to make him look somewhat human, and that he can make mistakes.
i think he knew it was gonna land on red 30, and purposely bet on 8, the number next to it, just to show he can make mistakes, but also shows how amazing he is, and how much he trained for it by being just one off.
he can afford to pay back the 5k, soely from the txts and phone call charges from the other events.
thats my take on it, everything still amazes me and it was a great show(s)

derren, have been thoroughly enjoyed your high quality television. the roulette, well sir, that’s how it rolls. i was half expecting that ball to jump to the 8 at the last second. still, quite a fitting end to the series.
On the up side all the way through the show my family were going on about it being a fake casino and roulette wheel and you’ve now proved them wrong!
Firstly, how rich do you have to be to not realise that someone has stolen £5000 from you? After that, I was kind of waiting for Derren to emulate his donation to Shelter by contributing his roulette winnings to the Conservative Party!
But no matter how much I want to offer my sympathy and say better luck next time, part of me still doesn’t believe that you actually got it wrong (or if you did, you did out of the goodness of your cold, mechanical heart)

A lot of this series has been about missing the ‘right’ one. Eg; the mouse, the box with the £20, the spray cans etc. I think Derren ‘failed’ on purpose. I haven’t a clue why yet but the way the guy from the crew stepped up, (perfectly timed with the panning back camera), to reassure Ben he’d get his £5000 back and the cheesy giant cheque that was waiting, never to be used, was, to my mind, very set up. So he didn’t lose or fail because he meant to do what he did. Derren Brown does not fail!
Did anyone else notice that when Derren stepped up to the stage just before he demonstrates with the teeny roulette wheel he says ‘ Let me show you the casino’ …

Wow, really fantastic show (in fact, all of the events have been). Can see how every detail is perfected to ensure maximum impact on the audience; great entertainment and something of an interesting psychology study too. Great idea to be off by 1: now everyone’s wondering what went wrong rather than wondering how you did the trick at all (compare this to the lottery trick…). Felt a little sorry for the guy who was all ready to get his £180k cheque though – though that’s presuming he wasn’t an actor. Liked the touch of having a guy holding a giant cheque standing outside.
Altogether looked like it was put together masterfully. Love how you create the whole mystique around you – how you are ‘banned from casinos’ (…hehe) and suchlike.

Terrible end to the series, wooden actors playing the “crew” and “ben”, ridiculous “hidden”cameras and the only deathly quiet casino in the world. Filming it so it appears you got one away so all the mongs and neandathals go “ZOMG, it must be real cos he got one away, must be real hard to do properly!!!11!!!!one!!!! ZOMG!!!!!!!!”
If that really is the end to it then it was awful.

He asked for 10 x 500 chips, making 5k yeah? Thing is he wasn’t in the UK so therefore would have been using a different currency and would have needed to bet a different amount to make 5k sterling. Mmmmm?

I still think that this was a planned one off, so that the audience are led to believe the stunt is genuine with no trickery and the risk of failure, gaining our trust on future events….but Derren sounded soooo sad when he got it wrong! In a way, this is a slightly better and more believable ending than that Ben dude winning a huge amount of money….and if computers are banned from casinos, why not hidden cameras??!!

Good entertainment but I was slightly disappointed that you were not going to share your secret success formula as the prediction did not turn out right. I haven’t been watching any other instalments of this series but only saw your programme on “the system” for winning on horse races. How did you feel the moment the ball landed on the adjacent number and how often did you get your predictions right when throwing the ball in the squash court? Is it all about probability?
Have you thought of betting on a single number 36 times straight in a row? If you pick a number that has a tendency to come up more than once, you probably has a chance to win at least your money back if this is within the 36 bets, do you agree?
I am interested in the hypnotising you did to Ben…

Hi Derren. Its been great watching your shows and is fascinating how easily peoples minds can be manipulated. The show that you done tonight was very interesting and to be honest it made the programme seem more realistic and less fixed.
Obviously it was difficult to watch because of the cameras and such like but it was still very interesting and shows that everybody makes mistakes.
I hope that you will bring out some more fantastic stunts to our telly soon too.

Good stunt, but it’s like the guy off real hustle said, in the real world you would have to cover at least 2-3 numbers either side of where you think it will drop, like the neighbour bet system, £5K on a neighbour bet on number 8…still a great return
did anyone else notice the guy, who looked a bit like derren, standing next to the truck at the end with a cheque for £180,000?
I can’t allow myself to believe that any of “The Events” were more than illusion – fabulous, inventive, entertaining, exciting illusions. Why? Because if I allow myself to believe he can really do that stuff I will gain a phobia of meeting the man and having my mind taken over by him.
I shall now say something positive to stay on his good side (see – the fear is taking hold already!)…….
Well done Derren – one out is still amazing, and Fridays will never be the same again – except I don’t have to be scared of sitting down to watch TV anymore.

Well done though, you were only one way, I imagined you must of thought 30 but changed to 8… you seem to be right the first time but you change your mind a lot.
Given the comments here, it looks like Derren’s trick has worked pretty well – he’s convinced you that he really can determine the path of the ball with impossible accuracy.
It was a fake casino, so obviously he got it wrong on purpose as he wasn’t going to pay all that money out of his own pocket. Various ways to get the ball into the slot next to the one he predicted – rigged wheel, multiple pre-recorded goes, etc. He’s set himself up for some criticism from those that don’t get it, but he sent out a message about gambling and if people think he really has the ability to guess that close, then he comes off looking like a genius with impossible abilities as opposed to what he is, which is just a genius

What a show. What a great entertainer. Win or lose – it just didn’t matter. Lose and it raises the question – did you really know about all those other events and be able to predict them? Win – and yes Derren has succeeded again. In this case a win would have been so easy to achieve – no way to verify when the film in the casino was shot. A great show – well built up to the climax. Wow! What an ending! I am really surprised! I think everyone was expecting Derren to be spot on so when he missed (even though it was only by 1 – a remarkable achievement) there was an awkward minute of silence; lol.
I’m quite upset the events are finished and since Derren will only be hosting the 3D magic show i think we’ll all have to wait quite a while to see him on our screens again.
This series has been amazing! Can’t wait for the next one (i’m currently buying all the previous DVDs
my obsession is growing by the day) So looking forward to Derren in 3D (hubba!)

Well done Derren – getting one off is an amazing acheivement and much more than any one of us could have done. As you said yourself, the method you used wasn’t guaranteed. I’m sure if you were given another £5k you’d have got it spot on second time around 
At the end though, I did think a twist was coming and it would be revealed that you’d actually won! I think it was the way the camera feed ended so abruptly and the crew member told the guy that he’d get his money back. I didn’t even notice the guy with the giant cheque everyone’s talking about! I may have to watch the end again

Amazing. How did you do those calulations that quick? i’m 14 years old and i want to be just like you when i’m older. i’m going to start trying a lot harder in maths now! i’ve been working out the method you used, and it would take me 5 minutes and a calculator, not 2 seconds!

If tonights program was live (the casino bits anyway) and the casino was in mainland europe, as Derren said, then why was the bet 5000, and not 5476 (or thereabouts). You don’t bet sterling – you bet euro’s!
UMMM !!! Whats going on – I think theres a twist in the tail.Could he really get away with taking a casino for £175,000. In similar shows were they take money from people or other establishments they always return the money, in this instance he was going to give it to one person. If he was going to succeed in the scheme like this surely he would have done it with the Lottery which he predicted(with considerly higher odds) but never entered. Why is everyone impressed with tonight’s show? It was a total failure..Casinos aren’t gonna say “Well, you were one off, have the money anyway”..You have to get the exact number..That’s how roulette works..

hugely entertaining series and im pretty sure NOTHING we saw in any of the events (even supposed technical cock-ups) was accidental – im a media studies teacher and i think im going to use this as a case study – some interesting stuff in all these shows about audience perceptions and media language conventions being toyed with – personally i think thats what it has all been about rather than the events themselves – remember the original trailer did say it was 4 events of misdirection …

First of let me start by saying we are watching a legend in the making here, along with huddenie David Copperfield etc, all the great entertaners.so well done derren on your achievements. this magic is old yes but the way its being use now is very new, but one thing got to me is he used 5000 “pounds” to win back 175,000 (180,000 total) pounds” but he was in the EU somewhere so how can he be playing for pounds when the currency is Euro?. I will never get to know the answer…lol But great shows, already watched the first clip of the new series
At the start of the show DB says he uses magic, psychology, misdirection, showmanship etc. Later on he contradicts this by saying he mentally computes the speed & direction of the ball and the wheel. Most people here seem to assume the second explanation, I prefer the first.
I’m sorry things didn’t go exactly to plan tonight but I can’t tell you enough how much watching your work has meant to me. Your show tonight still amazed me and I hope it hasn’t discourage you in anyway.

This last event should have been called “How to.. Split the nation”. “Did he mean to?”, “Didn’t he?”, “But he managed task X”, “But he made X mistake”. Regardless of opinion, hearsay, psychic theorists or any other ideas that confused individuals are venting into the ether, the fact remains that the primary goal of this show was achieved wholly and unerringly.. PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT! Theorising, arguing or just dribbling and mumbling incoherently as their brain tries to come to terms with events they cannot comprehend. This man is a very accomplished magician and manipulator, don’t think for a second he’s done anything but that to us! If you could do it, would you tell everyone how? However you react to this is irrelevant and that makes him a even cleverer than he appears. Genius.

Really impressed with tonight\’s show: felt like we got a proper explanation of the roulette scam, as long as it wasn\’t more misdirection… If Derren is indeed using sound physical formulae to work out these outcomes then it really does show the immense power of the human brain. Shame about the first show though: nice hour-long fairy-tale about group estimation applied to random numbers, but given all his efforts to disprove psychics and all the other charlatans making a fortune at the expense of innocent, vulnerable people, it was always going to grate when he cheekily sold us a shaggy dog story to cover up some clever techinical ruse to “predict” the lottery…

Derren, you are a wonderful and terrifying man! I don’t kow how you do the things you do but I love you for it. Friday nights are now going to be back to being ultra boring. I am still amazed that I got stuck in my seat for ages during the Control The Nation show. Awesome! Not sure about the casino thing…it’s making my head hurt trying to work it all out! Just because you don’t believe he won the lottery through group prediction. Which actually was connected subconscious, which you know nothing of. And the sofa, there were plenty people who did, nubs, including me. One thing I agree on, the psychic one.. Well, that was all a stupid ‘cover up’. We all have these abilities, they are natural, most of the things he performs, is just what ‘psychics’ do without knowing, most to a whole new extent, he just understands the logical reasons HOW it’s done. Our brains are capable of much more than we know, he’s just figured out a nice chunk. I don’t think he can rightfuly dismiss some of the things psychics do, it’s basically because he can’t find the logic behind it.
Derren, your showmanship as usual is second to none, the work and research you have put into your shows never fails entertain me and millions of others, you have been a constant inspiration to me throughout my adult life to absorb as much information about human behaviour and thought patterns as i can and i hope to use it in the future in my new career (Hypnotherapy) to great success, i hope to meet you in person one day to share a drink and a conversation. Keep up the brilliant work and thank you for all you have done.

The roulette was prerecorded camera trickery. The big red 30 and the check proves it. Throughout the events he has lied – e.g. in the split screen camera for the lottery. His work has many layers to it, but what it all boils down to is misdirection. None of the explanations for anything hold any water. I have read pure effect and all DBs books and all the underground magic videos. it was a good performance by a talented hypnotist and magician, nothing more.
The whole events have seemed…lacklustre. The lottery prediction explanation was clearly crap. The stunt itself most likely the split screen. Sofa sticking, well, I’ve not yet met anyone it DID work on, but meh. Psychic spy? Did not really do anything for me. Tonights lottery seemed wrong. I suspect a stooge, and quite frankly the whole casino thing was off.
I cannot wait to see you live, but this series was not what I had hoped for, too much bull**** from you, for reasons I cannot fathom. Had hoped it was all a build up to some stroke of genius.

I don’t believe for a second tonight’s ‘failure’ was genuine. But it adds to the effect and makes the other Events seem more ‘real’.
Felt the middle 2 Events were by far the better of the 4.
Sad that it’s all finished now. Overall, from the fantastic build up – the little clues in the ads, the hidden messages and hidden sites, to the shows themselves – it’s all been a hell of a lot of fun.
Simply the best ever ending to a series. Don’t know if Derren meant to miss by one but I’m glad it all ended with a twist! Now off to Science of Scams for some more Derren action!

There was a 30 on the first truck door from the live feed and Westwood came out with the number 30 when they were standing on the bridge which seemed a little random considering the road conditions.

More ‘evidence’ for those who don’t believe the casino scene was live: when Derren first went to the roulette table and watched a few spins the first one landed on 16 (you could clearly hear the croupier say ‘red 16′ and place the marker on 16). Then Derren walked up to the wheel before the ‘second’ spin and the ball was in 13, which is black and nowhere near 16 on the wheel.
oh also for the dumb dumbs, if u walk out of a casina with 180g plus video it for live tv, casino bosses r gonna find out and u arent gonna be allowed to keep it anyway. thats why maybe he choose the 1 out.to do it for real would mean hed have to give the poor chap 180g which hed have to pay out of his own pocket when the casino wanted it back for taking cams n illegal video equiptment in.it could never be done for real unless the casion allowed the camera in but then itd have to be genuine n i doubt theyd give good odds.whatever number derren chose even if it went completely wrong ppl would say he meant it anyway and have lots of evidence for it, we believe what we wanna believe. me i dont know, i think its great oul craic tho

did i miss the point of the roulette miss? or the trick ? please e-mail me back. i play roulette daily and hit single numbers frequently, but miss by one all the time.what was the point of this trick or illusion? i play roulette on machines in the bookmakers, and a real roulette wheelcan be fixed to miss any number by a casino boss.so what was the purpose of all this. i love your shows and admire you greatly, but this has made me thinkits pointless watching. did youmiss delibrately? did you want people to thinkyou would pull it off? what?

@mark carter “Real” roulette wheels are not fixed in any way. This is the kind of paranoid thinking that is sadly prevalent among roulette players. The wheels are actually checked each day with a spirit level to make sure they are level, in fact there is no kind of jiggery pokery to part you from your money other than the odds being 35-1 when there are really 37 numbers. It’s a random number generator – no more, no less.

It was a dodgy looking casino… they would be lucky to turn over £5k in a month, let alone accept a bet of that size – it was empty. Obviously a fake casino, but you would think they would make more effort to make it look real.
Obviously not a live feed either, which wouldn’t have worked anyway. They just did multiple takes.
Also, the post above claims to be from Derren himself, which was made at 10:10pm. Either it’s not from him – another untruth, or it is from him and he’s sat at home on his computer laughing at the stupidity of the masses.

if that is the case about the red number 30 on the truck then it follows that the feed wasnt live and the whole thing was produced – we just assume all along it was live and accept in good faith -
theres nothing wrong in liein about the show – even when it says no actors or stuges are used – we just accept this as true – but equally it might not be – its like the first trick – with the £20 and the match box – if the guy picked up the note – he wud have given a different instruction and it seems normal for mr confident to win – so no prob – if he looses – the instruction is to open the note and see whats written – he cant loose either way – it was a metaphor to what it was really about tonight – if the roulltee falls on 8 then darrens a star – if it misses – then he was meaning it to miss.
Great publicity stunt to end the series on! It’s certainly got people talking. I still feel as though there’s going to be another twist though…? x

I’m sure he deliberately got it wrong and off by one making a point. He didn’t want to just win £175,000 for some random guy. Sure £20 here and there is alright, but that much is kind of ridiculous.
Plus he did hypnotize him, get the money off him and make him forget. Which could have been all set up. But none the less, that was also part of the show.
But I think the main point of it was to show that he could do it, not to win some one money, but to prove to himself and people that he can predict the number with odds of 37-1
Plus if he did win it, they see the show and it’s pretty illegal to film and in a sense ‘cheat’ in a casino.
Because if counting cards is classed as cheating, what would they call this?
Good show Derren and a great fake-out at the end. You showed you could predict the ball’s trajectory with amazing accuracy withput actually having to give a random member of the public 135k. let’s face it, anyone who can have five grand go missing from their bank account and not notice really doesn’t deserve any more!

I dont understand how you can do the squash court trick which was greater than 37-1 odds then not get the roulette trick. Something tells me you meant to get it wrong and that is the part i cant work out. Great series and look forward to seeing your tour up here in scotland.

At the start of the show DB says he uses magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship. Later on he contradicts this by a second “explanation” – he mentally computes the speed & direction of the ball and the wheel. If DB is an honest guy the first explanation is correct, because the second “explanation” is then merely a suggestion. If the second “explanation” is correct (as assumed by most people here before midnight) the first statement is a lie, therefore DB is dishonest. I believe DB is honest.

WHat made last night so amazing was that you nearly got it and didn’t. Had you got it, I might have started looking for strings and pulleys and mirrors, but because you missed by one I was ‘Blimey! the whole roulette scene inside the casino was prerecorded. the fact that some ignorant person suggested here that there were two real spins of the wheel doesn’t suggest that it isn’t prerecorded. the big red 30 on the side of the truck suggests only one logical conclusion – that it in fact was prerecorded – unless they decided by random chance that the ball would randomly land on the 30 and DB would miss by one.. no chance (no pun intended). The 30 on the truck symbolises that DB really got it right without other people being aware of it. But now we know how its done ie that its camera trickery, just like the first event. we have no reason to believe that fact. instead i am a little disappointed, sure it may have fooled 99% of the viewing audience but not the real fans.
I thought the Roulette trick was amazing. Is there a twist to this though because in the Real Hustle episode where they used the machine to do the calculation, they would bet on the numbers either side of the number the machine predicted in order to more or less guarantee the win. So either there is going to be a twist or you bet on the wrong number on purpose or at least didn\’t spread the bet because you were tipped off that the Casino had found out who you were and you didn\’t want to get into trouble! Either way, you are an absolute genious and joy to watch on the tv. Please let\’s have lots more of you though, this series has been far too short!
Dear DB Thanks for making Fridays worth staying in and congrats to you and Andy (and everyone else behind the series) for making ‘The Events’ unique and I’m sure in time classic TV. Your greatest achievement must be that you’ve got the nation talking about stuff they would normally take for granted and perphaps some will now see that we live lives without questioning beliefs or realising that the devil is the brain. You should have probably been a little less cocky and did 5 individual bets on the corners of 4 numbers and win all of them. would have been equally impressive I think. but you’re Derren Brown, I’m sure you were pretty sure you’d get it.
Still enjoyed the show equally as much. If anything, losing this makes you look way more authentic than if you actually won, and I’m sure if you won, many would have thought it was fixed.

Nice one Derren, loved The Events. I think it’s amusing that everyone is disappointed that you missed the roulette number by one position when that’s probably what you wanted to do anyway.
I really don’t think any casino would agree to have Derren predict a roulette number when there’s a chance of them losing nearly £180,000. In the end everyone went away happy, the casino didn’t lose any money, Ben will get his £5000 back and he’s also now been on TV and Derren walks away with his reputation intact after predicting the wrong number. Being out by one isn’t so bad especially when the odds are stacked against you.

Although you missed the roulette number by one last night (pity btw), surely with that kind of accuracy you’d still manage to get it right a fair few times if you played more often. Given the odds, if you can get it right more than one in 35 times you’d be making a profit. If I were you I’d be doing exactly that!
I did wonder about the validity of being just one number out, but it would be good to remember what he said about the lottery prediction. If ever anyone was to ask him how he did it, he would say it was just a TRICK.
It should be noted that he is an illusionist of the mind and the skill is in making people believe what he wants them to. Through all of this comes ENTERTAINMENT. Ultimately, believe what you choose, but overall ENJOY.

Guys the thing you’re forgetting about this whole “30″ conspiracy is that no matter where we apparently see/hear the number 30 in the show, there was no way for Derren to know that the number 30 would come up on the roulette wheel. Regardless of whether it was going to be the number the ball landed on or not.

vstrange show yesterday not really sure what your trying to achieve with these shows but I suspect your just having a bit of fun and trying to get people talking in any way!

fantastic show only one out, not sure if the 30 on the truck was anything which funnily enough my 13 year old noticed but he is getting good at noticing things on your shows. (got mild autism so he has this incredible mathematical brain and a tendency to write lists!) anyway BIG WOW for last night and the last few weeks friday will be very boring now so looking forward to November.
Even though it didn’t go as planned it was still a very entertaining show. I have to say that Ben’s face at the end was absolutely priceless!

Why are people congratulating derren on a great success, the events have drastically lowered my expectation and amazemanet of DB – The little side projects he did during the shows eclipsed the actual ‘events’ every time. The lotto predo was just a bridge too far and I am still yet to meet anyone who was stuck…
He is and always will be a superb showman but this time the show just let him down.

Why are all you people saying “well done, one off isn’t bad etc etc?”. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that he missed on purpose.
And no, I’m not saying he aimed for number 30. It was a rigged table in a fake casino.
Let’s look at the facts:
- There is absolutely no reason why Derren would need to conceal the identity of the casino. Any casino in the land would be willing to take this bet for the publicity alone.
- Camera technology these days is fantastic. The little camera up Derren’s sleeve was purposely fuzzy, probably to hide the fact it wasn’t a real casino.
- You cannot put people in ‘trances’ like that. LMFAO.
- Derren’s tapping technique could not account for the raised metal spikes around the wheel that the ball will RANDOMLY bounce off.
Derren your amazing, and im sure you dont need all of us to tell you that. I dont think for a second that you meant to fail, and even if you actually failed then youve still succeeded in confusing everyone as much as if youd won all the money. Anyone that says you scam people etc are idiots when you clearly explain its misdirection, showmanship etc etc and personally all the people that say your a con-artist just piss me right off. I have loved all the events and am just so sad that we only had you for 4weeks when we have to have big brother for 13weeks … you should be there every friday

Hey, i love the shows. Just one thing, if you watch where Ben is passing the trucks, you can blatently see the number 30 on the side of the first truck, and then a red line on the back. Coincidently a red 30 comes up on the roulette table, indicating you knew the right number all along (as this was live).
However it is things like this that make me love the show so much, it is all so carefully planned. You do admit you use deception and i think the purpose of the show is to get people talking about how you could have done it, and youve definately done that. Congrats on a highly entertaining few shows.
and to will, people are entitled to their own opinions, not that any of yours seem to be too well thought through. The show is meant to entertain, and it definately did that, even to you seeing as you took the time to write about it. And people can hypnotise people like that, and unless you think every one of derrens shows are set up, then i think he can.

Just wanted to say, whether or not that roulette thing was a planned mistake, or if the no.30 was on the truck all along (i didn’t spot it but who can say) or if it was just a case genuinely being off your game on the night I’m still a huge fan.
I think your track record of 30 or so successful TV shows and countless live performances speaks for itself, and I’m not vindictive enough to judge someone’s entire output based on the occasional off day.
Who knows, there may yet be a cunning postscript to this one as there was with the System… the poster competition hasn’t reached a climax yet

despite my sceptical mind i was enthralled from beginning to end derren is such a good showman well done.

You have absolutly outstanding qualities, whilst i dont understand all of them you still amaze me and my husband to the point of determined research to try and understand what and how you do things. I can only say that last nights event showed remarkable showmanship above all else. we would be interested to hear some comments on this from you.

We Just wanted to let you know that we have enjoyed and been WOWED by what you have done this series.
We felt for you when you didnt guess the correct number, and dont want you to be too disappointed. To be honest to see you fail at that shows your not infallible, and gives us far more respect for you. Its much easier to relate to someone you k
