SOTM is a nice little concept that illustrates how some of the simplest ideas are the best. People are given a board to write down something they were once told. The little insights in to peoples lives are both touching and hilarious. You too can contribute to the site by sending in your ideas. It’s also features a man who is a rather scary lookalike to Derren Brown.

Hey that wasn’t very nice I do smell like shit.. and what of it?
Haha
I dont have a someone once told me…
But I do have a someone once asked me: do I play much soccer…
He obviously hadnt noticed the wheelchair I was sitting in….
That sounds like a great website, I love things like this. And that Derren look-a-like made me giggle!
Someone once told me ” you have child bearing hips”
Someone once told me.. “your not as beautiful as your identical twin sister”… something tells me he wasn’t as clever as a janet and john book!
Except derren is far better looking than the lookalike!
Lovely. It reminds me of postsecret.com
.
Not the kind of response you’re wanting from a girl that you like, although I can’t help feeling her candid feedback may be of future help to the poor chap as no one wants to be known as “shit boy”.
that’s a really cool idea. How about … ‘i’m sorry to all the girls that had a crush on me, nah i shouldn.t say that!’
Some of those on that site are quite sad actually. Especially the woman with the clown face.
Someone once told me…..”you’re podge”. This was from a ‘friend’ when I asked her once if I was fat. Have never forgotten it.
LC x
lol, somebody once told me that they were breaking up with me, for my own good !
How does that make any sense !
Gem x
“jesus hates you and your going to hell” was once said to me whilst i walked down market street in manchester carrying my new 100% wood fibre PJ’s from ann summers.
The lookalike fails miserably as a good comparison. Its all in the eyes, windows to the soul.
Smudger – Tooshay! SOTM – Time is a great healer – Though I have found that time just numbs the pain, the wound still remains. Oh getting a bit serious there sorry! x
I think most of them are really lovely. I think it’s great how those really small things people say to you are completely insigificant to the person saying them, but stay with you for a long long time
. Hopefully for everyone, most of these things are positive, unlike our friend in the picture!
someone once told me…. that there is no such thing as a fact, everything i had ever been told up till then was probably wrong, the past never existed and that he had an invisible dragon but we had to find it to prove its existance.
thats the trouble when in your first week at uni you realise your lecturers are more drunk and stoned than you are.
we found the dragon btw, it was in his head all the time.
and you all thought archaeology was just guns and specced up land rovers..
Well, I happen to think that lookalike is just as handsome as the very handsome Derren. But you could say I’m biased: I am his fiancĂ©e.
Someone once told me (when I was
that sausages were pig’s you-know-whats….and I believed them. Think that may be why I turned veggie
P.s. Sorry Derren…But has everybody seen THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsTHD3IbQDs LOL!
BTW That first emoticon up there is meant to be an 8. “When I was 8 someone told me…” Not sure why it came up like that.
@Jess – thanks for the link – that’s pretty funny
I love this xD
Someone once told me-’life’s not measured by how many breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away.
That’s stuck with me for a long time….that and…
I have no fear of losing my life – if I have to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it. Love ya loads Stevo and still carrying your message!
i got ‘i’m not lesbian but i’ll learn’
My dad told me when I was about 5 that bogies and snot was waste from your brain. I regurgitated this little nugget (ahem) in a class when I was in third year at secondary school. And was ripped to shreds by the wolves in my class. Why do dad’s do things like that?
And one of the nicest things said to me is ‘It’s not who you are, it’s who you will become’.
When I was about 8, someone (Hazel, aged 9, who lived on my street) told me that when I turned 21 I’d turn into a man. (Which I didn’t)
There are so many Helens on this blog now! Some of those are uplifting. I particularly like “I don’t care what happened before, I don’t care what’s going to happen. I just love you right now”. I could do with saying that to someone right now. I just know that he wont listen.
@JayKay
It’s not what you’ve said or where you’re been,
it’s what is coming and what’s to be seen.
It’s not who you were or what you’ve done,
it’s where you’re going and what you’ll become.
Someone once told me… I’d make a good burlesque dancer. :-/
x
that kevin bishop thing is funny but the one where someone has spliced the lottery prediction with dragons den is better.
someone once told me….that I’d be a really good granny. I was 17 and didn’t appreciate it at all!
@ Helen C
yes there are a few of us, hmmm. i will stick to lower case and my non conformist way of spelling and you keep your last initial. lol.
Someone once told me “Not to work for money but to make money work for you”
Also my Father once told me ” I should have broken both of your legs with a baseball bat”
This was after I had to kick him out of the Pawnshop business for doing side deals and other sordid affairs.
But i’m better now and rarely think abou it,
My brother once told be that at alton towers, when you go underground on the ride oblivion, they cut you up into little pieces and then stitch you back together again. I believed him.
My partner’s younger sister once blurted “I’M THE KING OF THE JEWS!” over the dinner table. ^.^
Also, someone once told me, “You’re about a 5, but in the dark, I’d say you were about a 7″. He didn’t see why this may have been slightly offensive.
I agree, Derren is much better looking! x
Hi Tash,
