I thought this one would be for the geeks, but after watching the first 10 minutes I was entirely hooked on Objectified. The subject of design is something we take so readily for granted, but here it is beautifully illustrated as one of the most important factors in everyday objects. It’s a wonderful DVD thats beautifully designed and comes with a whole load of extras.
Ironically there was a manufacturing problem and the releases were delayed – however ours just turned up and we’re very happy about it.
Well worth buying and passing on as a gift to look rather cool and intellectual.

what, no comments? – I’m sure I’ll think of something to say eventually… err, umm
perhaps I could take this opportunity to ask why the title of this blog ‘all your minds are belong to us’ is so written. is it by ‘design’?
Mike, I guess it’s a paraphrase of the popular sentence: “All your base are belong to us” which was popular a few years ago. When I entered this blog for the first time I didn’t even noticed it, probably because English is not my first language
I was lucky enough to go to the UK premiere of the film, where there was a Q&A session afterwards with Gary Hustwit (the director), Jonathan Ive (Apple design guru), Marc Newson (industrial designer), and Alice Rawsthorn (design critic).
If you haven’t yet checked it out, Gary’s other film “Helvetica” is worth a watch.
Mike – in answer to your question:

looks funky
Wow… How have I not heard of this film? Thanks, Derren.
I thought .. what 10 minutes Phillis .. the clip is only 1 minute and a couple of seconds … But it was a trailer we saw and the text is about the entire documentary … brain got disordered ..
Sounds not boring .. should be on tv. Actually, so far I don’t see why it should be in the cinema. But apparenlty it did feature in the cinema as well. Not sure whether it will pop up in the dvd rental stores here though.
thanks sylvia and paul – all of my thoughts is clear now
woohoo! as a product design student i can’t wait to but this! i really wanted the limited edition memory stick with the film on it but it’s like $70 or something crazy. i heart marc newson
