Nerves are basically like wires carrying electrical impulses to the brain so I would guess that the robot hand is wired into the nerves and pressure on a part of the hand provides an electrical impulse which can be detected by the brain as feeling. @Emma Springer, I guess it works like normal hands work via nerves.
