Apparently there is a skin disorder (dermatographic urticaria) that causes skin to become raised and inflammed after scratching the skin. Poor kid

i you observe the mothers body language, she is very controlled and quiet with a high pitch this is an example of someone experiencing cognitive interference from trying to control ones deceptive action actions in front of scrutiny. Münchausen syndrome by proxy; Münchausen syndrome is where they injure themselves for attention.
Just to prove it, lets take the baby away from the family for a couple of weeks and see if it stops, if it does then their god is clearly angry and has decided not to talk to them anymore, thus proving that it’s real. If that’s not proof enough then give the baby back and see if it appeases their god enough that he starts again.

You have to remember extra-ordinary claims require extra-ordinary proof. All that anyone is saying in this report is that they blindly believe this to be true. They have been indoctrinated from a young age and aren’t allowed the tools to question what is going on. No-one asked for any proof that this wasn’t a hoax, which would be quite easy to do. Until this sort of abuse is questioned and debunked ignorance will prevail.
There is a lot of possibilities as to what is going on here, the likelihood is that it is the most obvious. These people can’t see it because belief is coloured by desire.

I agree with all those who say it’s the parent’s desperate bid for attention. As someone else here hinted, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
I’m guessing he has an allergic reaction to something and mum or dad are handy with a paintbrush. If they did it under scientific test conditions and it still flared up after 24 hours (i.e remove him from the family overnight) it would make the claim 50 times more credible. I wonder if any eyewitnesses apart from close friends and family have watched the words appear.
But as we all know it would be blasphemy to actually test the phenonemon under scientific controlled conditions.

I don’t believe from a physical perspective he is being abused. The skin doesn’t look irritated just drawn on. If the mother can lie about the markings, she can also lie about the child becoming ill.
My question is this. Does this family really believe in Allah if it needs to make markings on this child in order to re-enforce Islam in Russia?

If It’s dermatographic urticaria then the baby isn’t being physically harmed. I have this and a light scratch will raise a welt. Even the rubbing of clothes will cause it to happen. It’s not sore but the raised skin itches a bit. Who knows how the child is getting it but it’s not in pain.

@Danny I believe you’ve got it backwards. Reuters is actually doing a rather good job of staying neutral in this report. Remember that journalism is the act of reporting what is happening, not the act of reporting what they believe is happening (ie. FOX news).
I’d rather Reuters show me exactly how many people believe this to be real (so I can be properly scared that such blind acceptance is so popular) than to shield me from extremism just because they or I don’t like it.
Sorry to spoil your little atheist party, but I’m a Muslim and I actually agree with some of the posters here in saying that this is a sick hoax by some misguided people. There are enough signs of Allah and proof of existence in everyday life that there is no need for these supposed ‘signs’ just like theres no need for Jesus’s face to appear in a Taco.

The onlookers don’t question the legitimacy of it because they so badly want to believe that such things are really miracles. Because they want to believe, they don’t scrutinise, and they would probably consider a skeptic of this ‘miracle’ to be questioning the foundation of their faith, and react very badly.
Good god, these people are stupid. To say “This is proof that God exists”, when they have no proof of HOW the marks appear? First of all, if they were branding or scolding this child then the scars would still be there a week later – different things couldn’t keep showing up which apparently is happening here, so I would say the only way they are actually showing up is if she wrote it on. Secondly, I wonder if anyone in the video has seen these markings appear right before them. And lastly, as someone else has rightly said, it’s rather funny how it’s Islamic writing that’s appeared. Oh, and another thing, I assume she is saying the baby is ill when it happens to make it seem more realistic. Scolding would leave scars.

All the people who think the mother is burning words on the child have no brains. If that was the case the scolding would be there for weeks the first time it was done. How is it that when the words fade away that there are no remaining marks. The is obviously a true miracle that any non muslim will immediately dismiss as a hoax.
