(CBS) Today was the third and final day of the world memory championship in London. And no, remembering to pick up a loaf of BREAD on the way home would not have qualified you for the final, reports CBS News correspondent Elizabeth Palmer.
Ben Pridmore from Britain once again has proven he’s got the most powerful memory in the world.
The three time international champion faced down stiff competition in events that included matching names to faces and memorizing 4,000 numbers in sequence.
They call themselves mental athletes but most admit – proudly – they’re also nerds.
The contestants rely on a combination of unshakeable concentration and sound technique.
“If it’s a string of numbers, I see those numbers and I have pictures that correspond to every number,” said Ronnie WHITE, a memory competitor from Texas.
Derren BROWN is currently banned from the competition for “wearing an outrageously gorgeous suit”. We suspect otherwise.

Have him on the show. In fact, when Derren had the man from the US demonstrate how he “sees” the world by clicking his tongue, I thought “why doesn’t DB have more people like that on the show?”
In fact, devote an episode to memory, another to another to sighte, etc and have “tricks” that exploit each.
cheers,
Chris
I second Chris’ comment. Great idea.
I visited my brother, Martin Taylor, the hypnotist (mentioned in Derren’s book as the guy who started him off) and he was having a dinner party. I recognised one of the guests as I’d seen his face in the Guinness book of records a few weeks before. It would have been wonderful to say, “Hi, you’re Dominic O’Brien, the memory man.” Alas I couldn’t remember his name.
What is/are the actual reason/s why DB can’t enter the Championship? Is it because he uses his memory as a source of income and can’t be classed as an amateur as a result?
White Bread, Brown Bread? Dead?
I think all BENs are intelligent…

ROFLMAO
Erm,,,,,Toast? Sandwich? Breakfast?
I’m all paraniod now.

Hahaha
I always think I’m doing pretty well if I remember to get the BREAD… only prob I have is remembering if I need WHITE or BROWN!!
Too bad they can’t do much with that memory than to enter competitions … it’s not really usefull in life itself.
And also, they need to train their memory and skills quite a lot .. their private lifes (if they have one that is) will be influenced pretty much by it … Also, those minds under normal circumstances probably will not work in other fields with calls for memory … on a daily bases .. (waking up .. WTF are you?!)
LMAO, Derren does wear some outrageously gorgeous suits
especially the one on the 3D majic show in italy, with the blue shirt. That was lovely
Am i really stupid for not knowing why the words WHITE and BROWN are capitalised? I’m paranoid now lol. Derren doesn’t just specialise in memory anyway, so he doesn’t need to win these things. He studies a range of things so he can actually make some use of it
Personally I prefer brown bread, its much better for you
hahahahah!!!! gorgeous suit…
I’d rather have a CRACKER
@lauralou – Me too. Brown bread just tastes nicer too!
And talking of Derren in gorgeous suits, I love the one he’s wearing with Matt Lucas, and the one with Jonathan & Jane Ross Gorgeous indeed Mr Brown.
Ok, perhaps I’ve digressed a little…..

Derren Brown banned from memory competitions……. Is that a trick or a treat?!
Wonders of show biz.
“Derren BROWN is currently banned from the competition for “wearing an outrageously gorgeous suit”. Sounds about right XD
and 2 settle the bead thing: White bread is unhealthy and therefore much cooler. This means it is overall better 4 u as it makes u feel better abour u’re general social standing.

Stephen, and all the other people who ask questions like this, Derren is not really banned from memory championships. When he says he is, he’s joking. Derren is fully entitled to enter any memory competition he chooses!
