I’m a librarian and it’s highly unlikely that any library PCs would allow you to download anything legal or otherwise. That would be really stupid as it would open up your network to all sorts of viruses etc. So not the best example.

Feathering of nests. They’re out of power in May (or whenever) and so the sole priority is stacking up the post-parliament opportunities and cosy relationships. Mandelson and his ilk are 100% and ever shall be ‘okay with wealth’ and have never given a flying arse about constituents or democracy. He’s a walking argument for reform of the House of Lords.

Believe me, TPTB would just *love* to find a way to cut off library internet. All those nefarious characters using the internet and (in many authorities) not having to show ID or give their name to do so… why it’s just a recipe for CHAOS and ANARCHY and TERRORISM. In fact a friend working in a library was told “your sort cause terrorism” when she said to an enquiring police officer that she didn’t monitor what sites people were accessing…

Who needs to go to the library when you have neighbours that leave there wireless network wide open! I\’m amazed at the number of people that do this, and I feel sorry for these people. They\’ll be the first to write to the Daily Mail about the dangers of the internet when they get \’caught\’ for illegally downloading something, or their bank account gets plundered, and all because they can\’t be bothered to read the simple instructions to secure their network. They\’ll stick an alarm on their house but not a password on their router. Incredible! I\’m just glad I\’ve emigrated.
