This is the Burj Dubai. It’s that tallest building in world. it’s more than half a mile tall and stands at 2,684ft (818m). It was started in 2004 and is expected to be complete by the very beginning of 2010. The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is a cool $4.1 Billion.
The video above is from the very top point of the mobile mast on the roof and if you don’t like heights it will give you the willies.

I got such an urge to drop a penny down the side every time the camera looked down.
Whoa. That’s cool.
I wish there was a video from a camera falling from the top right down to the bottom. How long would it take if you jumped off to hit the ground?
That is stupidly high.
I would refuse to go up x]
Oh man. Apologies if this is too much information – but my testicles retreated for safety when I watched this.
You did warn about the acrophobia thing but I wasn’t quite prepared for the view down. It’s just made my head spin and I now feel very odd.
I’m not really afraid of heights but that looks like a frightfully high place to be in.
ive stood outside this and its even taller than this video make it look
most of the other buildings around it are probably taller than the highest point in england
I’m not usually too scared of heights, but when he showed how far up he was, even my stomach did a little dance D:
@DerrenBrownFans OH MY GOD!!! that is vey high!
anyone else wanna climb it!
Dubai is essentially becoming an architects playground.
It has some of the most interesting skyscrapers ever built, you can tell the United Arab Emirates are sparing no expense in their bid to make Dubai the centre of the world.
Nimrod would have been proud!
wooooow. i would be scared ! xox
Makes the bottoms of my feet go funny! I wonder why that is?
*Annoys*
I’d love to just go up there with somebody here on this blog and just play Jump Around by House of Pain at max volume mwahahahaha!!
That’s pretty awesome, they should make a new project, a stair lift that goes 2 times higher! And then back down. Or they could just freefall into a giant pile of sponge and soft stuff!
Jesus, it DWARFS all the other buildings in the area, and some of those are not exactly tiny. Bloody hell.
Made my testicles contract and my gooch flutter.
That’s friggin impressive!
The fact that it doesn’t look real is the only thing that is stopping me from vomiting.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo I’m feeling very nauseous.
This is insane…!
I’ve been there and its annoyingly impossible to take a picture of in one go. x
Micheal:
The Burj Dubai is 818m tall, and human terminal velocity is 54m/s. Since a person in free fall accelerates at 9.8 m/s/s, you would reach terminal velocity after falling for 5.51 seconds. This requires only 149 metres, so falling the rest of the way at 54m/s (121.5mph) you would hit the ground after 17.9 seconds in total.
Oh gawd!
If I had testicles, they would be retreating. And to be fair, you need balls to stay there.
I don’t like heights (once got vertigo sitting in the 3rd row upper tier of a theatre) so why on earth did I watch this??? Good grief, my head is feeling decidedly giddy at the mo!! But a very nice view, from what I could make out through my fingers…..
LC x
It’s nice. Tho the surroundings are ulgy. I’ll take a nice mountain over this stuff anyday.
It’s like coming in to land on a plane!
‘Enjoy the view’? Er, no.
I honestly didn’t think my fear of heights would be triggered by a simple video but….. I was wrong. Deep breaths needed and a bit of a lie-down.
I was scared back when I got to go to the top of the twin towers pre 9/11 I couldn’t imagine being up there.
oh gosh, I don’t like heights – but I quite like willies. What should I do?
Oh. My. Word. There is no way I could go up a building like that, even though I’d be safe (safe? hah!) inside and not mucking about on the very pinnacle. All the same, it’s still an impressive spectacle.
Scared of heights? Hey, I’m even scared of widths.
Oh, that feeling in the stomach .. Is it just me or are we moving …
there were some English guys that parachuted off this thing a while back. pretty nutso.
oh my god.
and i thought the pepsi max in Blackpool was big, ah!
It’s so lovely to see such a place. An honor that will be forever.
I know, a bit pedantic, but shouldn’t this be “the tallest man made structure”. i believe the highest man made point would be some cabin in the Himalayas…
Nevertheless, stunning building this.
