The human brain can be used in occult ritual. Sorcerers may choose to devour parts of it, particularly that of a powerful person such as a fallen enemy, a king or tribal leader. A portion of the brain having been preserved in formaldehyde would not be suitable for consumption, however, but possession of it may provide the bearer with perceived magical powers. Several decades ago there was a murder/suicide on a local farm. Following the crime the local house clearance firm emptied the place of its contents. It was a done thing to check sofas and armchairs for lost change and in doing so a piece of dried brain was discovered. The owner of the firm kept it and preserved it somehow so it resembled a small walnut-like ivory netsuke. He would hand it to people and allow them to guess what it was then delight in the shock of the reveal.

Who would want those parts? Hannibal with a love for history?

I myself would not deny that I would be say at least astonished if I’d discover that the body parts of someone I know that has dies were on the market … def. would not want that either, although at the same time I’d wonder .. why would someone want to have them?
