This started back in October so we’re a bit late with this one. But it’s on until late Feb. The Museum of the History of Science is in Oxford about 10 minutes walk from the station. Tash has just updated us to tell us you’ve practically have to run to get there in 10 minutes – more like 20.
Film (Thanks Tash)

Geeks
I love Steampunk, I’m just too old to dress up and too poor to actually do it. I have a plan to Steampunk my computer when I upgrade it. *sigh* just need the money….and the time…
Wow it reminds me a little of the new tim burton film out -”9″
(Tis no where near the best film in the world but the animation in my opinion could be.) Alot of the stuff in it looks a bit like the creations in that exibition
I really want that clock.
Just if others were interested, Tor.com just had a month dedicated to Steampunk, including art, stories, and how to’s. Linkage to the index below.
Also want to point out there’s also links to a Steampunk Comic named “The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage” which you can see at the 20sec point. The series was reprinted in broadsheet for the exhibit and is quite good considering how relatively new it is.

Hope people Find this of help..
I’ve been to this! It’s really good, but it’s kinda small – shame is there’s more explanation of it in this video than the actual exhibition.
But the whole museum is brilliant, and the exhibition is well worth seeing! (If only for the church-tank concept)
I love a bit of steampunk! check out these steampunk style computers:

intricate, quite beautiful. would like to see stuff like this bridge the gap between eloquence and accessibility though, infuse a lil function beyond that of stimulating the imagination. curious as to what a statement from the curator might sound like.
also, seeing as these creations are presumably one of a kind, would there be any merit lost if one of these artists figured out how to efficiently produce multiples?
Awesome! =D
