What a great find, love the lighting on it as well, really making use of the surrounding enviroment. I’m doing something similar for my final year UNi project…Theres something way more personal, and in this case chilling, when things are animated with/make use of real objects/stop motion instead of 3D animation.

Hmmmm, it’s a lovely bit of film, but is it a good ad? What is the message here? The poster above thinks it’s selling a book. Could be for the NZ Book Council itself, not sure. “Where Books Come to Life” would make sense for a literary event like a festival but I didn’t see any dates.

If the ad is to promote stop-motion paper animation then it’s genius.

Hm, I would not buy the book hearing/seeing this but still a nice vid.
It’s a bit over the top .. pictures and words voice don’t ‘seem to match … and the accent of the guy … ehehe .. cool but distracting (and again, giving a different feel not connected to the book, or er .. maybe it does .. ).

That must have been a nightmare to animate… I’m assuming it was stop motion, as CG looks quite different but either way, keeping paper exactly where you want it to stay at 12 or 24 frames a second and animating paper construction in camera is a mind-numbing exercise! Whoever created this deserves some kind of award…

Cool, great ad but oh, the accent. There’s something about seeing kiwi work on an international stage that makes me very proud and something about the kiwi accent in the same forum that makes me cringe.
