The security at the red-brick and glass-walled horseshoe of the John Joseph Moakley courthouse on Boston’s waterfront was unusually tight. Anybody who was not a member of the city’s bar association was swept with a search wand. Photo IDs were checked. Mobile phones were taken from guests, who included the Hollywood star Tom Cruise.
The occasion was a memorial service for Scientology’s top legal adviser for a quarter of a century, Earle Cooley. The controversial head of Scientology worldwide, David Miscavige, delivered the eulogy, thanking his late friend for his contribution to the neo-religion during his career, much of which was spent pursuing journalists and former members who spoke out against it.
Miscavige may since have wondered privately what Cooley would have made of the events of last week. Scientology, founded in 1953 by the late science fiction pulp novelist, serial fantasist and inveterate self-publicist L Ron Hubbard, is under fire again across the globe, following years of struggle to be recognised – with some success – as a legitimate church.

“Scientology, founded in 1953 by the late science fiction pulp novelist, serial fantasist… ”
…speaks for itself doesn’t it???
You could put the name of any other religion at the end of the title and it would still be relevant! Scientology is just not as old!
$cientology…Needs to be completely eradicated. Proof positive of religion gone bad.
Hopefully rational people will stamp this particular stupidity fest out and we wont have it hanging round fucking things up for everyone for 2000 years like some other personality cults I could mention.
From the article:
> According to Hubbard, “law can be used very easily to harass… If possible, of course, ruin… entirely.”
I know the ellipsis is used to denote text not quoted, but here it doesn’t half evoke the manner of a Bond arch-villain!

someone is looking at making a film about hubbard. could be interesting, if the idiots in Hollywood let it!
An aspect of Scientology that i have yet to see mentioned is that when they ask you questions as part of “auditing” process, the write down your answers.
Assuming that they ask you personal questions, this means they have a file on you of your indiscretions, e.g. “have you ever cheated on your wife, if so, when and who with”, “have you ever committed a crime”.
I think this would make it very difficult to speak out against them if you left, cos this information could be used against you.
Scientology should be made to “destroy the files”
The worst thing about Scientology is their absolutely hideous logo…
Well what can you say about scientology – people should be allowed to follow which ever path they feel is right for them. But this load of rubbish is just laughable. Its hilarious. I mean 1953 – thetans – LOL I used to say to bible bashers in my school – ok what if we have a nuclear war – everything is burnt to dust – some small pockets of humanity survive and during the next few hundred years they evolve and dig up a book about Noddy and Big ears – would we then be Noddy followers. All I can say here is that it didnt need a nuclear war after all some plebs just wanna be called Noddies.
Did you notice that books on the CS are not available anymore, only cd’s .. so spoken books. Infiltrates the mind better or what is the reason/background for this. I checked them in the libraries here .. only on cd. And I’m not into cd’s. Nope, not in favor of scientology .. but to convict something you need to get all details .. Convicting from the inside, the self, the psyche, I mean.
This article features for sure more details which will make me laugh as well .. it is also so conflicting …
Moving bottles .. hm, about how to get your strongest psyche back on the inside ? It’s not about bottles I guess.
The original ideas, some, were not that weird or bad or original of the CS. most don’t need a church to work it from the inside. And you can start to overlook a few things … with huge backdraft ..
I wonder why the members of the CS which quite likely are here now and then as well don’t comment theirselves.
As it is with all theories .. they can be defined as something as well .. it’s just who is reading them and passing them on .. they are already being polluted by the members theirselves, especially those in tutoring roles. The ones who think they are on their way to become truely independent from their selves.
It’s a lot of old crab if you read the outline of the SC’s ideas. The world moved on … the ideas have been proven not to work at all like they wished them work. Believes no longer based on true psyche/mind (they divide mind and brain as well .. which is not very original either) … Did they already know about all the selves in side and how to control them and how to work them. A certain type the member is.
part 1:
Once on TV I saw a documentary made by a man from Belgium (where I’m from) about Scientology. He visited the USA to neutrally investigate what the people of Scientology believed in and how they were different from other people. He went to places where people from Scientology were and asked them these neutral questions.Within a few minutes a man in a suit arrived and he said that he was insulting the Scientology church. Asking why he was insulting them even made the Scientology representative more angry. Every place the maker of the program went, a Scientology representative in a suit arrived. Always was said that he was insulting the church. They even started threatening him with law-suits.
part 2:
After the documentary maker asked why they call Scientology a church and not a sect they even began screaming and pushing him around. The only thing he could do is to fly back to Belgium.
Scientology started lawsuits against him and a lawyer supporting the documentary maker gave him the advice never to visit the USA agian because it could end up very negative.
Since I saw this documentary I know what Scientology is: It is a bunch of evil people who think they are more than all other people and want to destroy their lives.
I wish people would stop referring to Scientology as a religion. Go to any Scientology “church” and you will find it’s a store with lists of books and courses you can buy. The system has been rigged so anyone can make money tax free if they harass the IRS enough and get the tax free “church” status.
- how about we call it a “racket”? – Phillis
Scientology is nothing more than a pyramid scheme business, operating as a cult, posing as a religion. The first few courses you do in the cult are really tame and often people feel they have gained something. Of course, as with any cult, you are love bombed when you first walk through the doors. However, the higher up you go, the more you pay, the weirder things get. Space aliens, homophobia, “the evil psychs”, staring into blank walls for several hours at a time without flinching (and yes you are required to pay for doing this), etc.
Ever wonder how celebrity scientologists can maintain that empty stare spontaneously? Now you know.
Ps: To all scientologists reading this. The final cognition of Clear is that you mocked up your own reactive mind. The final cognition of OT8 is that you mocked up your own past lives.
It costs me ZERO dollars to go to ANY church to read a bible and know ALL there is about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. However if I want to learn EVERYTHING about Scientology, it will cost me over 10,000 dollars (and that’s a VERY rare and small amount that most members pay)
i wonder how they managed to afford that fancy sign…..
….oh yeah, right….
The organisation calling itself the church of scientology is formed entirely around the orders and policies of L Ron Hubbard. These also form the basis for the belief system called Scientology.
You have to wonder about an organisation that’ teaches says all other religions are false memory implants designed to confuse us and prevent us reaching our full potential.
You have to wonder about an organisation that dictates that anyone who questions it is an enemy to destroyed.
You have to wonder about an organisation that has a dedicated paramilitary organisation called the Sea Org who’s adherents sign up for 1 billion years so they can complete the work on making all 26 planets in this sector in to Scientology societies.
You have to wonder about an organisation which insists it’s necessary for everyone to subscribe or be destroyed
