In case you haven’t already seen it – this wonderful little movie cost just £300 to make. It’s rather superb and has landed Fede Alvarez a nice big Hollywood contract. This time they’re giving him a 18 million dollars to play with. Can’t wait to see the results.

Excellent, look forward to his big budget work.
Which does kinda lead to the question of wtf do they do with the money that justifies the cost of Hollywood output?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu*& thats all you can say about that. A bit long drawn out one too. Brilliant.
I’m amazed that only cost £300! Brilliant!! The Hollywood contract is very well deserved
Saw the clip yesterday and admire the work as it is. Loving any robot action film I’m sure this will be a gem. Need to read a dictionary/theasaraus so I don’t just say wow throughout.
The 3D Effects blew my mind, rivaling most Hollywood films tbh.
James Cameron and Avatar should watch their ass.
So, they still give him 18M to play with… seems like a LARGEwaste of money if he’s already capable of producing such amazing work on a phenominally smaller budget. Brilliant though lets face it!
Fantastic! Exactly what Youtube is about!
Don’t really see how the camera, computer to render it, rendering software and other simple production costs amounted to only £300 but pretty good video none the less.
thats simply amazing thanks for posting it.
That’s not £300! Surely that’s a typo?!
omg that’s actually quite good for £300
i was expecting the original war of the worlds…
Wow! The CGI and hand-held camera footage integrates really well. It actually gives you a tingle down the spine in places.
what a poc
excellent stuff. what is the music in teh second half of it please
Wow, that only cost £300 to make? I thought it was amazing! And now he has $18million to play with? I bet he feels like he’s in some sort of dreamland!!

The music is a piece by John Murphy called In The House In A Heartbeat, used in the film 28 days later.
I think it’s actually 300USD which would equal to about £186. Just what I think.. Tons of explosions! =D
Excellent!! really liked the use of the music from 28 Days Later.
Call me an old cynic but I have a nasty suspicion that if he can produce a masterpiece like that for 300 quid then throwing $18 million at him will just result in a pile of self indulgent crap.
If you think I’m wrong take another look at Terry Gilliams career, the more money he was given the worse his films got.
Creativity needs imagination & that thrives in adversity.
This film is a perfect example of that.
Our hearts go out, at this time, to the people of Montevideo, their friends, neighbors and loved ones.
fedalvar, the guy who made it, says it was “U$s300″ and NOT £300.
A typo that needs fixing, making it only about £187 (300USD = 187GBP), even more impressive.
mmmm, where do I go to make a movie for 300 us $ . any idea ?
where do I go to make a $ 300 movie ?
