“Isn’t it great when a study confirms what you already suspected? There’s a significant correlation between robust daydreaming and superior intelligence.
Researchers using brain scanning technology found that the “default network,” the relatively new buzzword for the daydreaming state, was significantly more active in the ‘superior intelligence group’ than the ‘average intelligence group.’ According to the study, this suggests that the stronger connections displayed in the ‘functional integration of the default network might be related to individual intelligent performance.’”

I knew that already. But I really must stop daydreaming. It gets nothing done.
Yuchu. This makes my day. *strike*
An there were all those people telling me that daydreaming was a waste of my life! I know there was a reason I day dreamed so much!
It doesn’t take a genius to realise this! just a bit of staring out of the window
now, if you’ll let me get back to pondering…
Wahaha, I can see all the day dreamers are happy armed with this new piece of information. Don’t like the word “superior” though. I’ve been day dreaming since I was 7 or so, but i’m jobless attending Job Centre interviews – and happy to do so. I don’t want a job until I can find something worth doing. I want Derren to email me, go on Dezza Brun.. You know you want to
please..
Well, would it not depend on what you daydreamed about? If your mind wandered every half an hour and all you thought about was you sitting on the same chair thinking about daydreaming then your brain is hardly connecting to anything original. Just proving that when it gets the chance to explore it is unable to.
If you are sitting at a desk job all day and your mind *doesn\’t* wander, then it\’s time to worry because you are lifedead let alone braindead; but that doesn\’t necessarily prove the opposite is true.
Ha! My teachers always told me off for my daydreaming. They even used to moan at my parents because of it!
Undiscovered genius!!!
Does daydreaming make ‘the monkeys’ the most intelligent band in the world because they believed it?
I have lately found myself daydreaming so much, now I have a reason! Wahey. I just updated my own blog, it only has two posts at the moment but hey, it’s getting there!
My nick name was dilly day dreamer at school and I was told off often for this.
Hm? Sorry? What was that? I wasn’t paying attention…:D
The process described in this article will not be seen upon by all people as daydreaming, brainstorming perhaps. Most people day dream .. seemingly about dreamy stuff while staring .. but it is often not so dreamy .. letting your mind work it and observe the results .. some will need more work and may turn out to be rubbish, others wont.
Not very new. Some wont have time to day dream .. or are too depressed, or simply did not discover that mind system. Others prefer working the outcomes .. kick off from there, adapting it to reality. Some do all.
It will help gaining better insight in lots of things, IF you do review your own mind properly ofcourse …. the results ..And it is kinda relaxing. And amazing at times, as your own mind will flow if you let it ..
well, was there ever any real question of this?
good to hear this…sometimes my daydreaming gets so intense my head starts hurting!!!
I daydream regularly, but I’m not especially clever. Guess it doesn’t count for everyone!

Daydreaming is as regular as breathing for me (typical Pisces!) and now I find that that means I have superior intelligence? Great! So from now on if someone bothers me whilst my mind is engaged elsewhere, I can turn round and say, “Leave me alone I’m daydreaming & making my brain far more superior than yours……”

So, the next time I catch myself massively daydreaming, there’s going to be no more self-bashing
Bah, too bad I’m on deadlines!
Maybe this is why so many people of superior intelligence don’t manage to get out there and make a fortune for themselves?
Do you think I can get an appology from all the teachers who bounced a board rubber off my head for daydreaming when I was at school ?
I wonder……………
