“Witch doctors in Uganda have admitted their part in human sacrifice amid concerns that the practice is spreading in the African country.
One man said he had clients who had captured children and taken their blood and body parts to his shrine, while another confessed to killing at least 70 people including his own son.
The latter has now given up the ritual and is campaigning to stamp it out, according to BBC News.
The African country’s government claimed human sacrifice was on the increase.
According to officials trying to tackle it, the crime is directly linked to rising levels of development and prosperity – and an increasing belief that witchcraft can help people get rich quickly.”

Heard some terrible things on R4 this week. Truly sickening. One guy killed more than 70 kids. He killed his own 10 year old son. They cut out hearts, livers – one kid was found by his mum with his penis cut off. The witch doctors get around 3 visits a week from people who bring human flesh and blood. Horrific.
It’s a bit like cannibalism. You can always find people who did it the past but now don’t. It’s almost that if it didn’t exist, we would have to make it up..
wow it’s incredible
Totally horrific!
I heard the programme and was not impressed.
You should write to the Beeb and ask what proof the reporter obtained to verify these stories.
We’ve heard it all before in the UK and it turned out to be fabrication. Doesn’t anyone remember the shocking case where children in the Orkneys were taken from their parents based on nonsensical “evidence” from supposed “expert” advisers who had talked Social Services into using them?
See the LaFontaine report “Speak of the Devil” referenced from

I suppose it’s sick compared with sappy Western standards of 5 hour TV sessions and Saturday morning breakfast in bed.
@Peter Edwards A little bit of better research would have been no luxury on your part. Here is some of your fabricated nonsensical evidence´ http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2009/12/2009122683921769977.html
I strongly advice no one else to look at this as it is quite disturbing.
yeah, sure. and they all worship satan…just like us druids. :/
wonder whose agenda this BS is forwarding?
I find this sort of thing going on truly horrifying…..

Roz: Ironically, these incidents have nothing to do with Satanism on the part of the witch doctors – rather, it’s based on the sick belief that people are being preyed upon by Satan-worshiping witches that don’t exist, much like the witch trials of old; the witch doctors claim to “protect” their clients. Look up “child witches” and you’ll see this is only the tip of the iceberg.
