Oh joy of joys – its good to see some intelligent humour pricking the balloon (if not putting them in the sack and hitting them with sticks) of quackery, media puffery and anecdote over evidence
The placebo effect…. Long time ago it could have been called \”White Magic\”.
The healing rituals are theatrical acts – dramas, involving real medical herbs and symbolic healing artefacts, concentrated care and attention. These created an atmosphere which could trigger the necessary will to get better in those sick who believed the theatrical play.
Luckily it turned out that it was only my bottle of homeopathic medicine that fell over in my lap.
I was already scrambling to my homeopathic handbook to find out a cure for urinary incontinence; It turns out there’s some more homeopathic drug which is called Sepia to cure that ailment.
I wonder whether you piss so much from all that water intake that you simply no longer have time to leak without noticing it.
Love Dara…..have had the pleasure of meeting him in London….he now recalls me as the woman who nearly jumped him for a balloon…..long story involving Dara and Lee Mack backstage but oh what a laugh it was…..have tickets to see him again in London this year…such a funny guy who always makes me die of laughter.
Very funny, but please give us genuine nutritionists with years of degree studying and working in ‘proper medical research’ a break. Yes it is frustrating that our term isn’t protected yet (we are working on it) and freaks who go on a weekend course can set themselves up and spout absolute *#’!, but it is not a case that dietitians are the qualified ones and the rest of us aren’t. We often (the genuine ones of us) have a deeper scientific knowledge than they do as we are not stuck in the rut of working for the NHS! Other than that little rant I think ‘unqualified’ self processed experts are fair game and the Gillian McKeith’s and Patrick Holfords all deserve a humorous piss take! As for some of the other quack science……..where’s my water I think I was told it could cure everything!
I liked what Hadley Freeman said in the Guardian, i quote: “homeopaths claim that the active ingredient imprints itself on the water’s memory by a very special shaking process, a theory that sparks two obvious questions: if water has memory, does that mean vegetarians aren’t allowed to drink it? And is this special shaking process similar to a toilet flushing? Because if so, presumably all drinking water must carry cherished memories of several generations of sewage. Pass the Evian.”
Quality.
Ha ha ha, that’s very funny!!!!

I also love how child-like and excitable he is in some parts of this show.
Thank you for sharing this – Dara is bloomin laugh out loud fantastic. Much appreciated. Much admiration for your work too.

Many of them healed from only ‘sacred’ water….
of course there are a loads of charlatans… but self healing capabilities the human body are undoubtedly real.

Excellent show! Splendid!
That’s it, when I am in charge I will have a government policy to deal with the fear of Zomibes.
