“An Oregon man claims in a lawsuit Idaho police destroyed the mystical powers of a medicine bag when they opened it during his drunken driving arrest in August.
Craig Clark Show, 49, of Portland said the bag provided protection, had been blessed by a medicine woman and had remained closed since 1995, the Sandpoint (Idaho) Bonner County Daily Bee reported Friday.
The suit seeks $25,000 in damages.
Show was stopped on U.S. Highway 95 in Granite Hill while riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.16, police said. ”

Looks like something Cher woukd keep her nads in…
Welllllll…technically, if he was breaking the law, the police officer had the right to remove his protection if he was guilty both legally and spiritually.
Bet he doesn’t call the medicine woman…don’t think she’d support his position
I can’t blame him for being peeved. Bet if his ideas were from a more mainstream faith that wouldn’t happen.
Granted while I have sympathy for him I think the policeman is in the right. But he does deserve sympathy, but the policeman doesn’t deserve anything bad to come to him. Unless he it in the name of Jebus, Allah or ‘scientific reason’.
so what? it doesnt seem to work anyway! :/
It’s a dead shame that the bag got desecrated, but the police were just doing their job. If they’d seen him driving strangely, then for all they knew, there were drugs in the bag.
Seeking $25,000 in damages for opening a bag?! Some people will do anything for money.
Oh lord – I’m of to the States on holiday soon. Best leave my rabbit’s foot behind then, just in case I get stopped while driving.
Lets go with the assumption that was in some way Mystical (other than the mysticism of what rotting festering bacteria would be unleashed on us all after keeping the bag closed for that long) – what I find preposterous is that he has managed to put a “price” (tangible, real, physical, materialistic) on something that cannot be given a price.
That is like an atheist suing their friend for “converting them from christianity” because they used to have their faith, and not its gone.
Mindless.
But you can’t open that officer, that’s my magic hip-flask!
Uhh protection FAIL
Not only did they destroy his bag to pieces but they also lost some of the contents in it and they put it in a urine collection cup afterwards. It does not matter the reason for being pulled over. They had no right.
