“A ‘kiss-in’ will be held as part of Sunday’s Valentine’s Day protest against the Pope’s visit to the UK. Demonstrators plan to march from London’s Westminster Cathedral to the Italian embassy in Grosvenor Square and those willing are being asked to take five minutes to publicly show their love for their partners.
Kiss-in organiser Nicolas Chinardet said the idea was to use the traditional day of love to send a message to the Catholic Church over its stance on homosexuality. He told PinkNews.co.uk: “The Pope and his acolytes keep telling us that their god is a god of love, so on the name day of one of their saints, patron of love and lovers, we have decided to take them to their word and show them what love really is and what it can do. “We are asking straight and gay couples, religious or not, to come together to contrast the rejection we too often face from the church with a message of inclusion, love and togetherness. A way to tell the Catholic Church to snog off!”
The kiss-in is to be held at 1:30pm outside Westminster Cathedral. The main protest is being held over the Pope’s visit to the UK in September. Taxpayers will have to foot the bill for at least part of the cost of his stay, the total of which is estimated to be £20 million. The Pope has been accused of opposing gay equality, women’s rights, abortion rights and the use of condoms to prevent HIV.”

Lame comment of the day award. I don’t understand the church’s stance against homosexuality but I know they don’t approve of child molestation. Calling a priest a child molester for no other reason than the fact he is a priest is just a weak joke that’s been beaten to death.

1) So intimidating elderly women on their way to Mass on a Sunday is “loving” is it? I”d like to see what would happen if they pestered Muslims or Jews on the way to worshipping at the mosque or synagogue!
2) There is a huge difference between love and lust – Love is shown in the selfless willing of the good of another person, not in using another person’s body as a “snog” protest. I’m sure all those holy men and women who have, because of their Catholic faith, given their lives to look after the poor, the dispossessed and the sick really need a lesson in how to love from people who seem only interested in their own agendas.
3) It will actually be the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, not St Valentine’s Day…even then the saints remembered by the Church on the 14th are Cyril and Methodius.

People will eventually wake up and realize that the ones who are telling them what “God” says, are no more apt to be right than they are themselves. It’s usually about controlling the masses just like Karl Marx suggested.

“To change your beliefs to accommodate my lifestyle I am going to kiss someone”. The single most ridiculous statement I have heard today. Why do they seek human approval here as either way it is meaningless. Take the two points:
1. They are Christians, and believe that homosexuality is not a sin. Therefore, if their beliefs state that GOD says its okay, why are they asking for a man to agree?
2. They are not Christians and sin is not relevant. Therefore, why are they asking for a christian to agree?
