“An Australian has lodged an official protest after losing an official designation of gender neutrality.
Norrie May-Welby made headlines earlier this month after the New South Wales Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry issued a certificate declaring the Scottish-born 48-year-old “sex not specified”.
The New South Wales government this week said the official document had been withdrawn after legal advice suggested the registry did not have the power to issue such a certificate.
The Australian Human Rights Commission said Norrie had filed an official complaint following the revocation.
‘I can confirm that the complaint has been lodged under the Sex Discrimination Act,’ a spokesman said.”

I think losing his/her status is the least of his/her problems….sad sad sad
So what have they decided “it” is then?
Guinness book of records for this ‘dude’ then. Bet a pint of Murphys would go down well just now.
I hope the complaint is upheld and that this person can register as any or no gender as they please. It seems absurd to cling on to an outdated gender binary when we learn more and more about the diversity of gender every year.
This is such a shame and must be quite crushing for poor Norrie. It’s ridiculous, given that there have always been TG/genderqueer people throughout human history, that we’re still incapable of operating anything other than a binary system, and only celebrating the poles. I do wish the human race would grow up a bit.
Remove all mention of gender/sex from documentation. Everyone registered only as name and a date of birth. Then the personal issue of gender is down to the person in question, and noones business but their own.
For goodness sake for the most you are born one or the other. Very few are born both and they are usually more of one than the other. You can’t swap and choose as the mood takes you.
How on earth can ‘it’ lodge an appeal under the sex decrimination act if ‘it’ is claiming to have no sex!

Agreed, you can’t swap and choose as the mood takes you.
Transgendered people did not swap out of choice. In fact, they did not ‘swap’ their gender at all. Their gender did not match their sex. Sex can be changed more than gender, and so this is the one changed as much as possible. Their gender is the one that matters, and the one that is recorded.
